Fair play - I agree with most points and am certainly not dismissing Floyd - out of the BWAA’s top 3 I would say that the answer is floyd by a country mile - even though he was essentially done by 2015. Both he and Pacquaio are all time greats. I just think that with this being the decade that Pacquaio set the 8 divisions record, most lineal divisions record, oldest WW champ record, etc etc etc...it becomes hard historically to overlook those records which will stand for future decades. That’s my opinion anyway. I think that legacy of achievement in this decade is certainly of higher standing than Ward, and also Canelo. The Floyd element is arguable of course, and is subjective and as contentious as it ever was. But they are easily the top 2 in this decade, regardless of Floyds retirement and lack of fights against next gen guys, and regardless of Pacs losses (disputed or otherwise).
Jeez this poll brought out all the Froid/Pednelo guys alts didnt it. I wondered why the poll was rigged not to show who voted for who ROFLMAO You losers are pathetic
Fair enough I do feel right now Manny if he keeps going is entering into goatish category, when this question was asked a few weeks ago I actually had and have manny in my own top 3 along with Gonzalaz and Canelo for some of the same reasoning that Mayweather pretty much retired in 2015 the Conner fight with standing. I do think however you are dismissing Canelo out of hand as well, he has a very strong argument, not going to get into close fights because it can easily be argued that Manny-Marquez III was more egregious than the GGG fight. But just going off face value I mean 1st I don't think you can count the 4 decade thing for Manny seeing as FOTD is for 2010-2019 not 2020 which is technically when the achievement would take place, but Canelo holding titles in 3 divison simultaneously hasn't been done in 100 years that is hella impressive imo unifed at JMW and MW and titles in 4 division all during this decade people hate on Canelo due to close fights but overall not even being a fan Canelo has consistently fought top tier talent fighters he was supposed to lose to or duck and whether you think he won or lost for the most part they all had their worst performance.
his wins against margarito is also very impressive remember pacman is not a natural welterweight but he fought a way bigger fighter.
It really is appalling that two dudes who essentially only fought once a year are at the top of the list. I give Floyd a pass because he beat Manny, but gtfo with Ward. Canelo, Chocolatito, Loma, Golovkin, were all much more active and just as if not more accomplished over the decade. Activity has to count for something
Can't take it serious with ward In there, I can live with the other two but ward.. Just lol I'm out.. Rollseyes
Not really Margo never beat a fighter of note after being busted for loaded gloves before the Mosley fight. We don't know how good he really was.
Canelo takes the cake by becoming champion at light heavy weight. I am still shocked by the fight and the dramatic end. Although Floyd Mayweather is the better H2H, Canelo found a way to outachieve Mayweather by taking more risks to write history, so the decade belongs to Canelo. Mayweather is only interested by money since a long time now. Andre Ward second for being the first to give the blueprint versus former unbeatable Krusher. Pacquiao third and Mayweather fourth.
PBF holds two wins over Canelo and pac that alone is impressive. He also beat Cotto and beat Mosley who was P4P #3 when they fought. Pac lost too many fights this decade to be considered.. If people want to talk about longevity then why not Hopkins? Who has fewer loses than Pac does in this decade and was damn near 50 when he retired. Lol!
My choice would be Canelo. Floyd didn’t fight enough of the year against quality opposition. If it wasn’t Mayweather no one would be hyping up the Pacquiao and Canelo wins the way it is being hyped right now(, and that’s basically it for the wins for Floyd this decade. Pacquiao was beaten before and after Floyd, and I give Floyd a bit more credit for beating an inexperienced Canelo as I do Margarito for beating a green Sergio Martinez. Still good wins, but my point is not upto par to what Canelo has done in the same decade. The decade was the rise of Canelo. We started with him getting wobbled by Jose Cotto to beating hyped contender Trout, high risk/low reward Lara, Cotto, A highly dangerous Golovkin who albeit on the decline wasn’t recently ko’d or coming off a defeat, the next best middleweight in Daniel Jacobs and ended the decade with a LHW duel with Sergio Kovalev who although on the sharp decline was still Champ coming off a recent win over Top fighter Eleider Alvarez and at Sergio’s weight too.
Well I don't buy into the argument that if you lose fights it takes something from your wins. Every human has ups and downs. One lost doesn't nullify a win. Pacman lost more fights but he also fought more, he has 71 fights already and he is the smaller man and has a much more aggressive style. I think if we sum up the best achieved by these fighters in that decade, Canelo took more risks and got more results. Also Mayweather doesn't take others achievements by beating them. He beats Canelo H2H, doesn't mean he would achieve what Canelo is capable of. We all know what makes Mayweather proud is being a money machine. But making more money by fighting McGregor is not a criteria for greatness in boxing, right? Maywaether had to fight more to be number one, he did not, hence number 4 in my opinion.
Pimp... you really need to stop this bull****, trying to use Mosley as some big win. Shane had ONE big win the whole ten years before Floyd FFS.... ONE good win and it was over Antonio Margarito, whom you don't even think is any good. You can't have it both ways.
Im stating facts shane was #3 p4p when he fought pbf he just beat the brakes off of the so called "most feared man in boxing" margo. Those are facts and the p4p rankings back then. Get mad at the people voted on the rankings not me.
