In what Planet was Tucker universally regarded the best of? Pluto?

In the scheme of things Tucker really never beat anybody who was currently beyond USBA level. this is a fact.

Tucker should be compared to Stan Ward or David Bey. Not world champions.

This one, by the IBF... You cannot make that go away, he was their champion.
Douglas was top 10, by your own admission lol.

Yes planet IBF. What does it actually mean though if the guy he beat to become champion was in reality rated outside the real top 5?

yes of course I think a requirement to Qualify as challenger for the USBA title is to make the bottom end of the official rankings. Even so you can enter the top ten without beating somebody from the top ten. Which is what he did. Sometimes a guy goes up only because the guy above has lost. A lot of the rated contenders lost at the same time so a couple of new guys register without beating a top ten guy. It still points to Tucker probably not ever beating an elite fighter. Hence being USBA level.

I wouldn’t mind knowing what was the number of total current ranked opponents Tucker faced and if he was better than 50% against them.

Lol keep digging. I've made the points, your ridiculous agenda (which i have no clue as to why it'd come about) stops you from grasping a very basic concept.

As I said, one of the most disingenuous posts I've seen on here.

Yes Tucker held the IBF title therbye making him a “ world belt holder. “ but his winning that belt was almost as bad as he and Seldon contesting for the WBA title many years later. Neither Douglas nor Tucker were true contenders beyond fringe level and both were in Don Kings stable who in turn had IBF president Don Lee in his back pocket..truth be told the winner of that bout was being groomed as any easy title unification for a certain 21 year old champion who was making King productions a fortune..

I would have Tucker ahead on points until Rocky catches up with him and knocks him out in round 10 or 11

Does any second tier HW from any era beat an ATG "easily"?
He was, but so was Walcott. Sometimes intangibles matter, workrate can overcome skill when skilled fighters don't throw enough back. Marciano's workrate is higher than anyone who Tucker beat.
Lots of fighters do that now, it's not an era thing. In fact didn't Canelo do it against GGG?
Sorry, did Mike Weaver not exist?

Last week you were vehemently defending Don Cokkell's credentials as a challenger for the title.
Cokkell was ranked no6 and the end of 1953 and no2 at the end of 1954 and never ranked otherwise.
    Tucker, in a stronger era was ranked 8 in1986,3 in87,7 in88,8 in91,and 5 in 92 .
In the ratings with him were the following.
    Ruddock
    Foreman
    Tubbs
    Holyfield
    Williams
    Weaver
    Dokes
    Tyson
    Thomas
    Bruno
    Witherspoon
    Smith
    Lewis
    Moorer
    Morrison
    Mercer
    Berbick
The point being it was a lot deeper division in the years in which Tucker operated.

How can it be true and disingenuous all at the same time?

if you think it is “disingenuous” to use the full truthful ring magazine ratings to demonstrate completely and utterly that Tony Tucker really was a made up world champion then you must know I am NOT pretending to know less about something than I really do. I am showing you EXACTLY what I know to be true. Because it is.

It is important that people who decide on using a long word like “disingenuous” know what it means. Hopefully this will be helpful next time?

Because you spin, imply and outright state things that blatantly aren't true and easily disproved. As I did.

    Carry on.

And now (without being disingenuous at all), can I now do exactly what you do all the time and ask precisely who Tucker beat from your nice long list?

    Ruddock
    Foreman
    Tubbs
    Holyfield
    Williams
    Weaver
    Dokes
    Tyson
    Thomas
    Bruno
    Witherspoon
    Smith
    Lewis
    Moorer
    Morrison
    Mercer
    Berbick

What is the point of being in a deeper division if Tucker can’t beat any of them? Tucker never beat an elite fighter.

Someone on this thread wrote that Tony Tucker was “ more skilled” than Rocky Marciano.. I disagree.. When a man like Tony Tucker has physical advantages over many of his opponents yet doesn’t go as far as a man who has LESS physical tools than many of his own contemporaries it’s an indication of the latter having MORE skill.. not less... Rocky Marciano utilized constant movment, could slip jabs, cut of the ring, work the body and fight equally well with both hands.. Tucker mostly demonstrated that he was good at keeping guys off of him but little else. In one of his fights I also saw him throwing some good combinations but this wasn’t consistent...
