WBSS cruiser tournament final. IBF title at stake (1st defense of Dorticós), with Brieidis having surrendered his WBO title in order to meet his contractual obligations with the WBSS rather than honor the WBO's orders to immediately rematch Krzysztof Henryk Głowacki (the vacant belt will be contested between Głowacki and Lawrence Okolie). Despite the reduction in hardware, the pot is sweetened by the addition of the Muhammad Ali trophy and recognition as the Ring Magazine champion. Exact date & venue to be announced by Kalle Sauerland this week. The fight was originally scheduled for last month but was delayed while the WBO situation was figured out. Since then, February has remained the outer limit target.
WBSS CW#2 was pointless upon announcement, CW#1 leftovers fighting and all. And then all this sht. Breidis can be crowned as Usyk's and Inoue's equal via MMA moves. Da fug?
I wish Gassiev stayed for one more against Briedis just so we could have had a clear top 4. Briedis should win this if he is on form.
Dorticos come from behind TKO's Mairis late in an absolute barnburning war. Briedis is clearly vastly improved after recovering from all of the injuries that hampered him, but still, that doesn't change the fact that Yunier is the definition of teak tough, has a damn good jab, longer reach, heavier hands, equally good chin and is relentless. He'll wear him down eventually, hurt him, then unload until the ref is forced to stop it.
Briedis, in a close fight. So stoked for this one, such a good fight. The delays sucked but the WBSS has given us some really high quality stuff
In my totally biased opinion, this scenario is impossible, lol. Dorticos is a tough customer but no way his chin is a match to that of Mairis’s who also has enough firepower to bounce him off the canvas like Gassiev did. Can’t see Dorticos outboxing or outslugging Briedis. Unless Mairis gasses again like he did vs Usyk after round 4-5.

When I first made the poll (and thread) a date was still yet to be announced, so I just put down February 22nd as my best guess. Now we know the date (3/21) and venue (Arena Riga in Latvia) but still no undercard info.
Yeah, I remember thinking "sure this is Jan/Feb". It's worth going to for the Europeans on here. Nice place, cheap flights, probably cheap tickets, and a guaranteed great fight!
