Orlando Salido vs. Vasyl Lomachenko Man Salido made this an ugly fight. He is a dirty fighter (and I mean that respectfully! I generally don’t mind a little dirt), and makes a closely contested fight...I did think the 116-112 card was a hair wide...I think 115-113 either guy is right on target. 1 Lomachenko 2 Salido 3 Salido 4 Salido 5 Lomachenko 6 Lomachenko 7 Salido 8 Salido 9 Salido 10 Lomachenko 11 Lomachenko 12 Lomachenko 114-114 on my card
I watched a terrific little 10 rounder over the weekend whilst the board was in limbo. John 'The Beast' Mugabi v James 'Hard Rock' Green. 10 point must system in effect. Round 1: 10-9 Green Round 2: 10-10 Even Round 3: 10-8 Green (no knockdown but Green battered the life out of Mugabi) Round 4: 10-9 Mugabi Round 5: 10-9 Mugabi Round 6: 10-10 Even Round 7: 10-9 Mugabi Round 8: 10-9 Mugabi Round 9: 10-9 Green Round 10: Mugabi stops Green Total (through 9 completed rounds): 86-86 Even Again, just a terrific fight. In our day and age I can see a referee stopping the bout in Green's favor in the 3rd. Also of interest was the stoppage in the 10th, with Lou Duva and James Green protesting the stoppage vehemently. Again, today it would have been stopped a bit sooner. Actual scores were 86-85, 88-86 and 88-84 for Mugabi. I highly recommend this fight.
Joe Louis vs Tommy Farr (Yankee Stadium, Bronx New York) (August 30, 1937) (15 Rounds for the World Heavyweight Championship) Round 1: 10-9 Farr (Gets the better start, uses his jab well and sets up a decent solid right hand to the left side of Joe's temple. For Louis this was very much a feeling out round, he didn't do much other than feint with his jab and roughhouse a bit in the clinch) Round 2: 10-9 Farr (Farr still getting out front beating Joe to the punch, and flurrying well on the inside when Joe comes in to attack. Better round for Joe who appears to be coming on now) Round 3: 10-9 Louis (Joe gets to work and wins the round handily) Round 4: 10-9 Louis (These rounds are cut/edited extremely short the best thing landed in the round was a stiff 1-2 from Joe) Round 5: 10-9 Louis (close, Joe lands at least 3 good left hooks to the head & body, Farr lands a good right, and another partial one) Round 6: 10-9 Farr (Real good round for Farr) Round 7: 10-9 Louis (Joe gets his hands moving again, landing with power, being first) Round 8: 10-9 Farr (Farr comes on strong and has a big round, pushing Louis back) Round 9: 10-9 Farr (Louis starts off countering well landing solid, Farr comes on again after seeming like he lulles Joe to sleep belting Louis with a thumping body shot then going to work taking another big round and the lead for me. 86-85 Farr, after 9 rounds) Round 10: 10-9 Louis (Farr started out well again landing a couple of good left hooks. Joe comes on late and lands a sledgehammer 1-2 that buckles Farr's knees and looks to almost put him on the floor) Round 11: 10-9 Louis (Real close round, gave it to Joe on the strength of his active hard jab, Farr didn't land as much but did land the eye catching shots of the round. This is razor close after 11) SWING Round 12: 10-9 Louis (Another close round) Round 13: 10-9 Louis (More definitive round for Louis who finally appears to be showing a sense of urgency) Round 14: 10-9 Louis (Joe outboxes Farr almost exclusively with the jab this round) Round 15: 10-9 Louis (Joe spends bits of this round on his toes moving boxing beautifully. Eluding Farr's offense while constantly sticking in his hard jab and counter right hands. Joe's best round maybe of the whole fight, most dominant anyway) My Score: (145-140 Louis) This content is protected

If you read George Francis' book, it is truly incredible how Mugabi won the fight considering his pre fight antics. Great reading.
Currently reading "When Pittsburgh was a fight town". What's Francis' book called? Can you elaborate on the Mugabi-Green fight?
Buy it and read about it. Pretty interesting book--then almost any book by a trainer is good reading. There is a fair amount on the Mugabi training habits.
