Nerves, extremely cautious to not get caught after banking rounds, stiverne was still a bit of an unknown but we knew he could bang.

he got the job done when many picked against him

Stiverne was dangerous back then. Similar to Ruiz. His punch resistance was quite good. Wilder fought a defensive display, but he still did serious damage to fatso. Unlike that useless bodybuilder Joshua who literally ran from his blob! lol

Because Stiverne was only 75% shot as opposed to the 100% shot he was in the second fight! Second best win on his resume that was tho, am I wrong!?

I doubt it was the broken hand. He threw full power shots all night. Stiverne's chin doesn't care if the bones hitting him are broken.

    Just imo's.

    • Stiverne was an underrated (imo) motivated bull of a man who felt losing to Wilder would be humiliating, in their first fight. In the second he wasnt in the same physical or mental condition.

    • Wilder fractured his hand in their first fight.

    • Wilder got a bit better by their rematch, imo.

Have you ever sparred or fought with an injury though? Or even a badly bruised knuckles?

Someone can say it doesn't effect power, but outside of a couple select moments where maybe you completely override your own system, and regret it immediately, you instinctively arent placing 100% into your punches.

Broken hands effect punching power imo.

I still think that this was Wilders best performance. He actually boxed in that fight.

Sometimes I genuinely wonder how much truth there is to something like this. Though Id wager theres none.

But it does indeed seem like he has a bit more 'touch of death' to his punches than he used to.

Realistically its likely a combination of him having learned to place his power better, combined with the right opponents, but.. I do wonder how much if any effect having metal put in the hands is (probably none lol)

Wonder what the total weight of the metal is thats in there.

And completely going into lala land with the idea... but I wonder if an unethical fighter that was willing to pay an unethical doctor, I wonder if they would be able to theoretically add enough metal structure in there to actually significantly increase punching power. It doesnt take that much added weight to your punch to make it significantly harder.
