Moore’s legs went out because Rocky beat the living hell out him. Went on to fight with a lot of success for many years with no leg problems. Moore had amazing foot work not good at 38...and yes Louis was 6”1 1/2.
Where did I state such a thing? Perhaps I brought up black men not being allowed to do certain things in the past, which I dare you to contradict.
You’ve mentioned trainers not looking for short white Boys. I’m not combing through a million pages to look for your statements. You know what you’ve said
Short Italianate Sons of Abruzzi... And no, they don't seem to be filliing the ranks of the division.
How to get a lot of traffic on your feed: a classic guide 1. Make a Marciano thread. Doesn't matter what topic just make it related to him 2. Wait for the posters to enter 3.??? 4. Get 200+ replies
A lot of us are going to have to apologize when a 5-10, 185 pound, slow moving man, who moves his right foot first when moving left, and falls to the floor when he misses a punch defeats the big athletic guys who are getting bigger and stronger despite warnings from "Message Board Boxing Experts" that additional size and strength work against them in a fight. When that small, slow man shows us that the "intangibles" that are only apparent to Message Board Boxing Experts, overcome skill, size, strength, speed, and overall athleticism, we'll have to apologize. From reading this board, it's only a matter of time before a man comes along who lacks size, lacks athleticism, has no use for boxing skill/conventional footwork, trains by throwing rocks, and hits a big heavy bag...when that man comes along, we'll all be sorry for doubting the "Message Board Boxing Experts."
While I absolutely agree with all of this, I also have tremendous respect for what Marciano achieved. Tho he didn't fight at the elite level for long, there is not much of an argument that he ducked anyone. He didn't draw the color line. He didn't seem to be mob-controlled. Sure, it was a very poor era but there's not much he could have done about that. He was a warrior, through and through.
Different to what Archie said in a taped interview. Moore was nearly decapitated byPatterson a year after his challenge to Marciano. Look at him against Bivins and Ron Richards and tell me you can't see a serious decline in his mobility by the time he fought Rocky! No great foot work by him on display.
No. Lennox beats Don within 4 rounds. But Don is good company here. Ruddock, Golota, Grant, Botha And Rahman all went in 4 rounds or less.
