But that fails to take into account his potential elsewhere.

Say you start at a company and earn twenty grand a year. A year later you're on thirty, and five years down the line you're on a hundred grand a year. In any reasonable sense your career hasn't been stunted by your current employer. But if everyone else in your position with all your rivals is earning more than twice what you are, is that different? And should you be admonished for lacking loyalty if you move for a pay rise? Absolutely not.

'Real world' comparisons don't always work, but here they do. Taylor is moving for better opportunities to make better money for himself. You'd be an absolute mug not to do it.

he is nearly 30 years old and has made a decision which will pocket him millions whilst having the might of espn behind him. He's on another stratosphere now in terms of pulling power.Let's not forget 3 fights ago he was fighting on an ifl tv boxing stream after beating the likes of vazquez and postol and may have been on there again if sky hadn't done the good thing and picked up the baranchyk fight. It really is a no brainer for josh to jump at this imo.And that's without any possible shyster buisness involving cyclone.

I can understand your point, I guess it depends on what kind of relationship they had together and how much of Taylor's success is down to Shane and cyclone promotions. If it's a massive disparity between earning potential and career growth then I suppose it's best for Taylor to move on. I believe that Taylor could have gotten the big fights while with the mcguigans but I think his earning potential might of been considerably less. Either way it is exciting that he's moved to top rank and hopefully we still see the best of Taylor under a new trainer.

Tbf he's only just won a world title so he's not that big a draw yet. His next few fights have the potential to be much bigger regardless of promoters. Granted it will be bigger money and exposure under top rank but that is at the expense of ****ing over the mcguigans who have been influential in getting him to where he is. Also he's going to have to change trainers now. Not sure of that will be positive or not.

Not quite sure i like the move tbh. The mcguigans have done well for his career so far. From their point of view whats the point of being in the game...bringing boys on to world level....dedicating themselves to fighters....probably losing other fighters .....if as soon as their just about to make good money....they leave them to keep it for themselves.

Leaves a bad taste tbh. Not sure of the ins and outs...but how much money is enough for people nowadays. Mcguigan was getting him fights and everyone was paid well in the tournament they got him in. Cant be bothered with guys that are only in it for themselves. Thats allright if moneys tight....you,ve got to look after yourself afterall but if we,re talking about guys that will become millionaires anyway...theres enough money to go round.

Cyclone were trying to enter into a co-promotional agreement with Matchroom. These type of arrangements always seem odd to me because it just means that the money pie is being split further. I don't blame Taylor for doing what he did so long as his claim of "breach of contract" is actually legit. Boxing is a dangerous sport and fighters need to maximise their earnings while they can.

I've said before that if you look at Taylor in the ring, in press conferences and of course that incident with the bouncer, it's pretty clear that he's a very spiteful man (and I mean that in a positive way as all fighters need to have that level of spite as far as I'm concerned). Therefore, it probably wasn't hard for him to be "disloyal" and look after himself with his new deal.

As everyone has acknowledged here, clearly Barry McGuigan is a bit underhand with his business dealings. Far too many of his fighters have had issues now for that not to be the case.

What I don't like though is Carl Frampton gloating on Twitter. And I like Carl a little given that he is a fine boxer and a Rangers man as well. Just think it's pathetic to see him gloat on Twitter.

As for Shane, these legal disputes that Cyclone keep having are clearly massively impacting on his own career. It's a shame for him because I bet he has nothing to do with the business side and he's clearly a fine trainer.

Yeh I agree to a certain extent with what you are saying. Taylor will make big money regardless of who he's with and it would of been nice for the mcguigans to get some good paydays for helping Josh get to this stage. He will obviously make more money with top rank but is that worth being a disloyal **** to the ppl who helped him get to where he is now.

People will say it is but I'm not one of them. What's wrong with loyalty and helping others, especially when they have helped you? Not just Taylor bit it happens in all walks of life.

Mate the story of former Premier League referee Bobby Madley is shocking. Really one of the most disgusting things I've read recently. A close friend completely betraying his trust over a nothing private joke.

Some people aren't worth ****. I can count the number of friends and family who I think would truly be loyal to me in any circumstance on my fingers.

Moving to top rank guarantees him the chance to become an undisputed champion in under 20 fights and ensures he has the platform to showcase himself to the world...something that cyclone couldn't guarantee.you or I don't know what's happened with the mcguigans but either way he is right to choose more money and exposure..is he not? Sure you can question the morals of his decision but choosing Top rank/espn over cyclone/...is fantastic for him.

So you think people should get to a level where once they've got a million then everything after that should be seen as inconsequential?

Why? A guy who has a million quid has every right to think of how different (better?) his life and his family's life might be if he had ten times that amount.

He would probably have that chance with any promoter, Taylor has two belts and just won the super series. He's a massive draw for any elite fighter. If he's as good as he thinks he is then he will win fights and gather exposure from beating the best. If there has been dodgy dealings then fair enough but leaving cyclone just when the big fights paydays are about to come is disloyal and basically makes it pointless for cyclone promotions to bother helping young boxers start their careers.

Is that extra money worth being disloyal to ppl who have helped you get to that big money offers.
Greed is a powerful thing and many ppl don't have the inner strength to say no and stay loyal.

Problem with Cyclone Is they only seem to have one boxer at a time that's profitable. It's not a sustainable model 99% of the time, especially if most of the family are relying for a wage from it.

With the Top Rank deal he may get a US based trainer. If he stays in UK, @billy nelson must be in with a shout as he is Scottish based. Could join Frampton and co with Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis. If he stays London based Adam Booth and Mark Tibbs would be good for him. I actually think Mark Tibbs is a very underrated trainer and would be his best bet if he stays down London way.
