Wtf? Disliking three fighters, each for different reasons, equates to a "tinge of racism" when all three happen to be African-American? You, uh, do know that black people are not a monolith, right? And that disliking Ennis, Wilder and Shields in no way forms a pattern in your little tea leaves or makes for some reliable predictor of whether I'm going to like a given other black fighter, right?

Ennis is a hype job.

Wilder is scum because, for instance, on multiple occasions he saw fit to publicly claim he wants a dead body on his record...in a climate where pro boxers are dropping like flies and you just can't be saying idiot things like that without being roasted for it (as he rightfully has been).

Shields is a hype job like Ennis but without his skills ...and she's a brute power-shot winging inaccurate bully like Wilder, except without his devastating one-shot power. And she's a crass outspoken and undeservedly self-aggrandizing troll on Twitter and in every interview she has done.

I mildly root against Ennis.

I usually root against Wilder. (but was a big fan of his in the amateurs).

I loathe Shields.

Three different flavors of dislike. Again, not a monolith. No pattern here. Showtime happened to pair two black fighters in the co-main events who already weren't that popular in mismatches that weren't going to win over any hearts or minds...so blame the network if you must. (and they are the same ones crowing about Wilder as the baddest man in history, so yeah...fuck Showtime).

CCA is a long established thing on this forum that has nothing to do with race.

I called her Clarontay in a callback to SHIELDS HERSELF COMPARING HERSELF TO WILDER EARLIER ON THE BROADCAST, and the parallels many have drawn in their undefeated rises without either knowing any form fundamentals including how to throw textbook punches properly.

Anything else? Because I just picked apart literally your whole body of evidence of imaginary "undisguised racism". Oops, you're indisposed I see. Tell me when you return.

 

For all the women's boxing skeptics:

Napoleon-Espinoza vs. Cederroos was the FOTN by far, and while that's a pretty low bar given the poor quality of both Ennis vs. Eyubov and Shields vs. Habazin, it was a pretty damn good fight, period.

Oh no - @Diddy is going to swoop in (whenever his sentence is served) and say that we just think so because it was the match with the lowest net melanin on the card!
