He beat Foreman who was a true world class banger. He beat Lyle who was sort of a banger. He beat Jeff Sims who was a banger but at journeyman level. None of those three really resembled Tua’s style in any way. Nevertheless I picked Young to win a decision but it would be interesting to see how it would play out.
Well, the only style of boxer that I would say could beat Jimmy would be a swarmer...though, a very good, elite type of swarmer, like a Joe Frazier.....and Davis Tua definitely was not a swarmer. Actually, Tua was also a banger...that category has a very wide umbrella to it, IMO.
yea cobra, a tough fight for Jimmy, well, maybe not really a tough fight, but a fight harder for him to win would be a guy who throws a lot of punches, like the version of leon spinks who fought ali. even though most would miss, I think the judges would go with the volume puncher.
Young by UD in a competitive fight (6-4 or 7-5 in rounds) against Prime Tua (the on e that fought Ibeabuchi)
You’re right was about a bottle of red deep when I wrote this and was def thinking of Jimmy Ellis lol.
You may be right, who did Jimmy ever really face in the style of Tua? I't could be to easy to say Jimmy shuts him down and stops him from being effective. Young had a solid set of whiskers most of the time, Tua maybe struggling to actually get him in to trouble but his aggressiveness may go towards winning the fight, or at least make it close.
