Maybe this one guy called Ezzard Charles. You've heard of him, no?

 

Well there weren’t many. And of the very few, Ezzard Charles is certainly one of the men I’d give a shot at doing it.

 

I think your opinion of Foster is generous considering how limited his resume is.

 

I'd agree w this. He's probably capable of beating someone like Moore, Charles, Tunney or Spinks, but didn't prove it.

I may be overrating him a tad. True. He was awesome though. He didn’t have whiskers to handle heavyweights like some of his other fellow light heavyweight greats but at 175 I think he should be given a chance against a fair number of them.

 

I think he'd be better suited at 168 today. The guys at 175 now are the size of small/medium heavyweights back then.

You also forgot Adonis Stevenson

 

Honestly, people can’t criticize Foster’s resume for being thin then turn around and mention Adonis Stevenson in the same breath. Stevenson was a very good fighter whom I was impressed with in 2013. But he never fought Hopkins, Kovalev, Pascal or Ward. He avoided a lot of his mandatories and for a while was only defending once a year. Could he have beaten Foster ? Perhaps but not based on those credentials..

 

Nobody talks about Adonis Stevenson like he was the best 175 ever, but somehow Foster receives that kind of praise without having done much more than Adonis. Foster also got knocked around fighting 185 and 200 pounders; Adonis didn't.

 

No one certainly not myself is calling Bob Foster “ the best at 175 ever. “. And the 200 pounders he lost to were some pretty damn notable heavyweights - Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Ernie Terrell, Zora Folley, etc... Adonis never even faced the best of his OWN division let alone stepping up against THAT level of comp.

 

I think Stevenson would falter against those fighters
