The reason he Is not getting the savage KOs against middle weights is because he has to be weary of what’s coming back.

those telegraphed winging shots aren’t going to surprise no one which is how you hurt people.

the smaller guys would cover up but still get rocked even stunned while blocking. & lord forbid they tried & trade with him. He could just throw winging combos fearlessly.

against Spike he didn’t have real success until he worked off the jab & disguised his shots behind them.

When he would land something of note he would revert back to his old form winging shots & spike would then counter him.

He got the stoppage because he listened to Erik who told him stop throwing hard ... throw jabs & work off of that.

In time if he gets better as a technician the KOs will come back.

My favourite British fighter is/was Nigel Benn, when he was at 160 he was a big puncher, no denying it, the man could hit and hit hard.

He said himself it took him around 12 months to adjust to the higher weight and carry his punching power up and even then he wasn't blasting people out like he did at 160.

So you never know, if Munguia grows in to the weight correctly then he could end up a very solid puncher.


Time will tell but it isn't a good look getting dragged that many rounds with an old, past his best Spike.

 

Spike's punches bothered him; GGG's would short-circuit him.

 

He looked soft and fleshy to me, at 160, with hardly any definition. He is too small for 160 but too big for 154 as well.

Loading up with power and still not getting a stoppage victory way earlier is a sure sign that he is lacking firepower too....

The kid is 6ft tall and quite thick. And he was 176lbs or so on fight night against Liam Smith.
How is a 6ft, 175lb guy too small for middleweight?
