33+ year old fighters in the lower weight classes and Loma's time left

    Since Lomachenko will be 32 next month and he's a smaller fighter doesn't that mean the end of the line is near?

    We know the smaller the fighter the shorter their shelf life. Can you think of lower weight guys who were still humming along resembling their prime past the age of 33?

    The most notable one I can think is Marquez who was 34 when he fought Pac the 2nd time, but you could see that he even he was no longer as precise or quick on the draw as he was in the first bout.

    Donaire just went toe to toe with Inoue at 36. Which was incredible. But you have to think a prime Donaire takes him into deep waters and drowns him.

    Any other examples? Or does the future not look so good for Loma?

    Floyd started just 4 lbs above Loma and dominated Clenelo & Pac near 40.

    I give Loma a solid 2-3 more years on top of the sport. I think he takes care of himself well, you don't hear about him drinking and partying.

    I want to see some examples of a lower weight class guy still competing against high level guys in their prime.

    Sure, it just won't be relevant in the Loma context since he's fighting right in the middle of weight classes and has 7 division below him. Small guys are Donaire, Rigo, Narvaez not him, and sure: it's uncommon to fight at a high level 34+. However, middle divisions where Loma competes (126-135) age well, see Floyd (130-154), DLH (130-160) or even Pac who jumped to this group quite young.

    I think Loma gets hit more often than his fans would like to admit and rely heavily on reflexes that eventually deteriorate, but I think we could be 2-6 years before his level significantly drops, depending on genetics and taking care of himself. He's not in those tiny divisions that age fast, he's quite average in size compared to world population averages.

    While he will start showing wear soon enough, he hasn't had many pro fights. pro fights take a lot more out of you than Amateur fights. He should be okay until his mid to late 30's as he doesn't have a lot of mileage.

    As long as he stays clear of aggressive strong prime brawlers like Miguel Berchelt (Salido's granddaddy) he should be able to outbox any technician between 126-135 and stay fresh.

    Realize you are using 3 ATG fighters as the standard for this weight span? They aren't the rule, but moreso the exception.

    Don’t see the issue with him going to 140, he’s taller than pac with 1 inch less reach. Pacs beating prime 147rs at 40.

    if Loma is as great as described then 140 shouldn’t be an issue

    Look at the difference in body structure, Pacman has very wide shoulders and big legs, Loma is a thin guy with very narrow shoulders, he shouldnt be anywhere near 140
