Hi mate, I believe its a technical thing. Kenny dragged his rear foot when moving and kept his head off center to the right over his rear foot. Marciano actually had a very similar stance. The both liked to throw the first punch of a combination from a crouch ( as did Floyd Patterson and Mike Tyson ). Like nearly all fighters who take the sport up late Norton could only fight one way. He certainly had the athletic gifts to fight on the move but his technique made it basically impossible. Cheers.
Actually, by then, black Fighters were fighting white guys in South Africa. It was the only integrated sport. Bob Foster had a lot to do with that due to his fight with Pierre Fourie which took place in front of an unsegregated audience. Back to the Boxing. I think Coetzee may have taken Cooney out if he got past the first 3 rounds. Holmes handled that whole fight superbly I thought. He wasn't going to go after Gerry and leave a gap for that hook. As short as Cooney was of elite level skills, if he caught you on your heels with that shot, you are gone. To be shown up for 12 and a bit rounds and keep going shows that Cooney had real courage if nothing else. I'm glad that they are good pals. They made each other very rich.
WHERE WOULD I EVEN BEGIN. I BELIEVE I HAVE STATED IT ALL ABOUT THE LOONEY TUNES CHARACTER IN PREVIOUS POSTS. AT LEAST YOU TWO THOUGHT OF ME. FOR THAT, I SALUTE YOU!
Thnks. Like the movie Open Range says, " There are some things that gnaw on a man worse than being banned (killed in the movie). " Thank you.
Everyone has their own criteria about what constitutes a great fighter ,for me Norton does not cut it.
