Holmes vs Byrd, Brock, Austin, Thompson, Iggy, Rahman, Chagaev, Chambers, Peter, Haye, Mormeck, Thompson, Wach Povetkin etc

Wlad vs Norton, Weaver, Shavers, Ledoux, Ali, Berbick, Spinks, Cooney, Cobb, Witherspoon, Bonecrusher, Truth etc

Do they still go undefeated on each other's resumes?

Both go undefeated, although there's a much higher chance of Wlad getting taken out than there is Holmes, although considering Wlad went like years without being dropped, I think his clinching, defence and jab would stop him from being KOed.

The Norton Weaver Shavers Spoon and Cooney that faced Holmes on those particular nights all have a chance against Wlad. On the nights these guys fought Holmes they were better than anyone that beat Wladimir IMO

Interesting post...idk lot to take in lol. Wlad v Cooney Norton and shavers intrigued me I feel like he is def dropping one of them. I think Holmes possibly drops one to Sanders orByrd might give him. Real hard time too. Although I noticed u don’t have sanders listed

If Witherspoon (the guy who fought Larry) would have fought Klitschko, I think Wlad would have had serious trouble. That 'Spoon was a menace and awkward enough to irritate the living yeah-hoo out of Wlad.

Not sure on Norton...Cooney would have been interesting though, partly because of their respective sizes. Norton just might have beaten him...but it's possible Wlad takes Ken out in the first four or five rounds. I think a Ken matchup would depend on whether Wlad got cut.

I'm not an authority on Wlad but what particular fights did he get cut up in?

I think both could get thru. Holmes would have trouble with a few, as he did in his own era. Peak wlad's safety first could well see him get thru his assignment easier. At his best he just didn't get in much trouble and it's hardly a fearsome lot especially given his physicality.

The one guy I see giving Holmes the most trouble is Peter.

Ray Mercer who is better than Peter couldn't beat a 1990's beer bellied Larry Holmes.

Prime Holmes vs Peter looks like the schooling of Shaves minus the drops.

I can definitely sympathize with folks who felt Larry narrowly lost to Ken...it was (besides the first Ali fight) Norton's greatest performance imo.

But I had Witherspoon behind Holmes by a solid two points at the end. Tim had a terrific ninth round, and won more than a couple earlies. But I just didn't see him doing enough to win the title. He got immature and showed his youth by thinking he had it in the bag after the ninth...when he didn't. Just my opinion.

I agree. The only danger Holmes might face is getting momentarily stunned by an occasional right hand but for all practical purposes Larry should win every round
