Who would you have favored in this crowd pleasing match up? You have 2 fighters who both fought Micky Ward and produced some of the best fights you'll ever see. Does Augustus manage to pull off a surprising win over Gatti or would Gatti's power eventually wear down Augustus to a stoppage? Could see this as a close fight, favoring Gatti.

This would have been just as exciting as Gatti/Ward and Ward/Augustus IMO.

Augustus lost to Ivan Robinson, Floyd, Dorin, and Ward. He wouldn’t win unless Gatti’s face fell off.

I expect Augustus to make Gatti look VERY poor at certain points but ultimately find a way to lose.

The fight would be very competitive.

I'll go with Gatti in a close fight.

That Gatti is in the HOF and Augustus is relegated to only hardcore fans remembering him - when their actual level of boxing was very close, tells you all you need to know about clever matchmaking.and having good management behind you. Of course, Gatti being a White (Italian) American and having an exciting style greatly helped his marketability.

    - He looked a lot better against Floyd than Gatti did.
    - His war with Ward was fight of the year worthy and closer than the hometown (for Ward) cards indicated. Gatti lost one of his fights to Ward
    - Gatti lost to Robinson

I mean, I refuted you just off the top of my head.

    LOL.

Like I said, Augustus wouldn’t win unless Gatti’s face fell off.

    Lame argument.

Nice way to cover for your "arguments" that I refuted.

You didn’t refute anything. Gatti outperformed Augustus against the same guys. And I like Augustus way more than Gatti.

If you want a lame argument, I’ll point out how you praised Augustus for a “fight of the year worthy” performance against Ward and then wrote “Gatti lost to Robinson” to describe what actually was a fight that won Fight of the Year.
