No he wouldn't because he wouldn't be able to carry 160 effectively. He would not have fougjt above 147 lbs and his lack of natural Middleweight size would be even more of a factor. Maybe if Duran was absolute prime and a naturally bigger man he would beat Hagler. And lol at your statement that Duran's power would overwhelm Hagler. It didn't overwhelm Palomino. He would never have the power to overwhelm the iron jawed Hagler. Duran had exceptional punching power only at 135 lbs and arguably 140 lbs. His speed would be better, but he wouldn't be as physically strong nor as used to fighting anyone above 147 lbs.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but Palomino Duran was as good as a fighter can get IMO. If Duran didnt put on too much weight and came in about 150-52 to Haglers normal 158 I can see him taking a UD. Why not ..hes the greater more versatile all around fighter.
He might. Hagler fought rather docile in that fight. But, what if then Duran would fight Benitez (of the Duran fight in 1982) and lose. Styles make fights. What if Marvin Hagler of the Hearns fight fights Duran of the Palomino fight? I think Marvin would be too strong and would probably win in the mid rounds.
And, we are not taking into consideration that Duran could have learned some things from Leonard and Benitez and the others Michillo, Laing and Cuevas and Moore which he used when he fought Marvin-including being used to fighting bigger guys. Could the 1981 Hearns have outboxed the 1991 Virgil Hill? I think he might lose and be stopped by Hill. The older Hearns was slower but more patient.
You guys arent understanding what I mean. If you take Hagler and all he had on Nov. 10, then you take Duran at 135 or the 147 Palomino Duran and some how in he was at his absolute greatest. Ok THE BEST POUND FOR POUND DURAN WITH ALL HIS STRENGTHS VS THE SAME WITH HAGLER. NOT A DURAN GAINING WEIGH T. BUT LIKE DURAN 1978 VS ALI 67 PD FOR PD. WITH EACH HAVING HIS BEST ADVANTAGES, ETC. I WAS SAYING THE VERY BEST DURAN EVER IN A PD FOR PD MATCH E A TS MARVINS LUNCH. GET IT YET?
If you said that '79 Duran would win but on points, I can see that being a possibility but since when did Marvin suddenly lose his famous durability that he's getting knocked out by a middleweight version of Duran? That just isn't plausible. Hagler was never (legitimately) knocked down in his career let alone knocked out. And Tommy Hearns, who was clearly a greater puncher than Roberto at welterweight, couldn't put Hagler away at middleweight. What makes you think Duran is going to do that? EDIT: missed your previous post. I think if you create this hybrid Duran creature who carried all his lightweight strengths proportionally to middleweight then he might be able to stop Marvin. But then it wouldn't actually be Duran but a supermutated version of him. Which seems a little unfair (albeit amusing)!
Nothing on these boards are real either. Theres no way Hagler could fight Greb either. I find it hard to believe no one understands what I said. Oh well, they were just thoughts while observing younger Duran fights.
