Hagler’s quality bar is so high that there’s very little to gripe about him. Thus, the ‘griping bar’ gets raised to a point, not too distant from being unreasonable.

When one of the few things people can complain about a boxer is that they didn’t win well enough against a fellow all time great, I’m guessing that boxer, looking back, has to be satisfied with their career, overall.

Yeah. I like the days of announcers just calling fights and not interjecting themselves or their opinions into the fray.

    Good, fair points
Slightly off topic how do you think a Ayala/ Moore fight would have played out around the same time?

Not me. I miss the days when a boxer lands a good punch and Jim Lampley is there to give me the entire backstory on it. What it all means.

Davey was more proven ETM. I think Moore may have beaten him.

They rushed that night saying Tommy was washed up. And he did look washed up that night. I don't know how he recovered and beat Hill 3 years later. He modified his style a little and used his legs less. And Virgil didn't press him.

YOU EVER NOTICE WHEN DURAN FIGHTS A FAMOUS FIGHTER AND DOES BADLY E.G. DeJESUS, LEONARD, BENITEZ, HEARNS, LAING (LOL) IT'S ALWAYS BECAUSE DURAN WAS PARTYING, OLD, FAT, SMALL ETC. NOT THAT THE FIGHTERS - WHO HAD WEIGHED MUCH THE SAME AS HE HAD THAT MORNING AND HAD HAD JUST AS MUCH TIME TO PREPARE FOR THE FIGHT - JUST FOUGHT A BETTER FIGHT? WORKS TWO WAYS THIS INJUSTICE THING.

I think too much is made out of Hagler supposedly fought the wrong fight. Even when Duran was clearly fading in the championship rounds and Hagler pressed the issue he was never close to stopping Duran. Maybe he would have if he upped the pace 2-3 rds earlier, or maybe he'd miss and be countered by a Duran that hadn't started to tire yet. I don't see that any of the two guesses are much more convincing than the other.

How did he fight the wrong fight? He fought the winning fight, that can never be really all that wrong.

Don't come here with your sensible, rational statements. Where's your sense of overstated hyperbole?

Is this board really the right place for you?
