George Chuvalo vs Larry Holmes

No problem - Holmes would outjab Chuvalo all night.

 

... and cut him down and stop him like Foreman and Frazier, though maybe a few rounds later than they did.

 

Chuvalo was tough but Holmes was on a different level...

 

I love George, I think he is very underrated and tough as nails, but I don't think he could bear Holmes but I bet Holmes would be sore as hell afterwards

 

It would be very tough.


On Larry's hands.

 

Just combine Holmes vs Cobb with Chuvalo vs Ali 1 except Holmes doesn't sit there letting Chuvalo blast his mid section and eventually stops a swollen faced Chuvalo in about 10-11 rounds.

 

Holmes by decision. George gets in some licks when Larry is taking a round off here and there .

 

That's about it. Holmes by wide decision.

Chuvalo didn't hit as hard as Weaver but he was a lot better than a lot of the guys Holmes defended against in that time period.

 

This. I do see a possible 11th round stoppage if Larry catches him off balance, maneuvers him into the corner, and does that whole rain-of-right-hands thing he often did.

Of course, no knockdown or out of George, no way. And I imagine overall George would make a really good account of himself.

UD Larry, but I don't see a shutout. George might give him more trouble than the mostly-dominated Berbick. Berbick got staggered on something like half a dozen occasions, I doubt George would more than a couple of times, tops.

 

I agree Chuvalo was a lil underrated, but then again he would get beat, Cleroux (2 out of 3) , McMurtry, Corletti, Mathis, Terrell, Patterson, Ellis, Bonavena etc. Then he would upset, Jones, Ramos and Quarry . 2 tough fights with Ali, Frazier & Foreman only stoppages. scored a lotta Knockouts .
