I don't think it was a ploy by Snr. That's just the way he is. I felt bad for Jnr. I think he'd have fought GG.
That fight showed how important GGG's jab was vs the elite. He broke Kel down with the jab setting up his heavier stuff.
Also I remember hearing that Kel was asking Hearn for a Golovkin fight even before that,so when Eubank stepped out Hearn called his bluff and Kel took the fight.
never done it before or since, and it happened to be against the best middle on the planet...I'd say that's a swerve, maybe as bad if not worse than Kahn bottling Brook
Although Lemieux isn't or wasn't as skilled as Brook, the way GGG used the jab in that fight was very impressive, Lemieux was getting pushed back by it
He's hardly likely to do it again. Go and look at what his crazy demands were. It's nothing like Khan-Brook. Khan obviously doesn't want the fight. Jnr is flawed and a bit deluded, but he's got huge heart and will fight anybody. I absolutely believe him when he said he never saw the contract. He would definitely have fought GG. After the dust had settled, Snr admitted that he'd made a mistake.
That's not a mistake, that's being totally unreasonable a number of times to the point negotiations couldn't continue, there has to be a reason for it, it was madness, imo he didn't want Jnr getting bust up..Yes I agree Jnr would've fought him..Why didn't Jnr say take a back seat on this one Dad ?? I'd over turn any decision my father wanted for me as a grown man in my mid 20's
The guy is totally unreasonable. But had he have not wanted Jnr to have fought him, he'd have just told him. He doesn't operate like that. His huge ego wanted control over the entire promotion. He told us all that Jnr would be as good as Floyd and Roy etc. He fully believed in his potential. He told us all that he'd beat Golovkin. Again, he didn't act out on purpose so that Eddie would lose patience with him, in order to protect his son. He's an egomaniac. I agree with you about Jnr, but it's easy for us to say that.
