A natural light heavy stopping a middleweight doesn't impress me particularly ,10 months earlier Moore looked pretty average struggling with Harold Johnson before getting the stoppage. Olson who was a moderate champion imo, fought a comebacking Robinson 6 months after being stopped by Moore, Robison pulverised him in2 rds and did it again 5 months later this time in 4 rds.
I wouldn't expect to find a newspaper or magazine proclaiming Lastarza isn't the number one contender in his forthcoming challenge to Marciano! WTF is wrong with you? Either you can prove your claim or you can't!
Harold Johnson was himself a great fighter and a stylistic challenge .. and he beat him .. my point is that speed is speed, Moore had it .. power is power, Moore who knocked Rocky down clearly had it .. he was not some semi-catatonic shell like Louis was ..
YOU are the one who continues to bring Williams up then have the audacity to accuse others of bringing up Williams at every turn and having an obsession. The nerve!
Moore said his legs were gone for the Marciano fight. I've never suggested Moore was in the same state of decline as Louis clearly was,he wasn't, but he was a bit past prime.
I'm aware of Johnson's qualifications my point is, Moore didn't look so special against him,but dominated Olson, precisely because Harold was a class fighter and Olson was pretty ordinary. You just endorsed my point ,though I'm sure you did not intend to.Basically it a question of levels, and of course weight divisions.
Jaco had nothing to do with the thread either. I was only remarking that even he has a more famous win than Big Cat Williams... who by the way is relevant to this thread because he fought on a Marciano card and was badly KTFO by a man destroyed by three Marciano victims. And by the way I cannot find a post of mine where I have accused others of brining him up. I have accused others of rating Williams whilst simultaneously knocking Marciano. Which nobody can deny.
Why would you mention Williams name in a thread about Marciano v Jaco? There is no conceivably valid reason for doing so! Can you find the post of yours where you credited Moore with wins over ranked contenders who weren't actually ranked when he fought them? Or would you like someone to repost it for you?
He may have been a bit past it like Walcott was a bit past it when he beat Charles but he was still a terrific fighter.
I haven't contradicted that have I, I just repeated what Moore himself said in a taped interview in1970.
