just watched fury-wilder again and inspired this thread

benn-mcclellan another of this category in my mind (dependent on your interpretation of the rules) where the second round is a total u turn on the first

what other great examples are there of a guy being laid out and coming back to defy the odds in quick time?

Fury def had the most dramatic recovery. I was surprised ref didn’t just wave it off from the second he went down! That being said the Foreman v Lyle fight as well as Moore v Durrell are right up there. Even though he didn’t win Gatti getting up in the first ward fight always got me.

Oh man brother. Holmes Snipes when he fell into the turnbuckle!!!!! No more exciting moment in sports in my life. Stunning! Then the great man turned it around. Kudos for the memory friend. I can still hear Cosell yelling, " OHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"

Just like in the Shavers fight Holmes recovery power was just amazing. He was back to kicking Snipes ### In no time at all just amazing

LOL, awesome. all but the four or so he lost most likely

Also, I always thought it weird how many times Marquez went down in his career, always got back up though and, the times he didn't end up winning the fight, at the very least was always competitive within a round or so after. Also, I don't know that it is an oddity or not, but for a guy who went down so many times he was never stopped during his career. He may come across as a sore loser when he lost, but that dude NEVER stopped trying to win a fight, even against the then bigger Floyd who was having his way with him. Heart man

Born in '81, making me a touch late for Holmes/Shavers part deux. Even so, I vividly remember how when I was getting interested in the history of the sport and the very first time I saw the clip of Shavers knocking a few yrs off Larry Holmes' projected lifespan, I likely did a triple take when hearing/learning "...And Holmes got up to win the fight." unbelievable to the 13ish yr old Mario040481. S h i t, even now I see it and it is as unbelievable that a man can get up, no, not only get up, but regain his faculties enough to within a few mins take the whole damn fight back into his hands. Larry gets a lot of grief, some say it is deserved, etc blah, but that dude did have a heart too.

Holmes does get as lot of grief. People say hes miserable cranky ect ect. I met the man numerous times and each time he was extremely nice friendly and generous with his time. My favorite HW.
