Just for the sake of it ... name 3 HW fighters who are currently outside your top 10 who you would expect to be in it 2-3 years from now.
Boxrec's current ten is as below .. it seems pretty close to the mark with no super obvious exclusions. 1 ➡ Anthony Joshua 2 ➡ Deontay Wilder* 3 ➡ Oleksandr Usyk 4 ➡ Tyson Fury* 5 ➡ Andy Ruiz Jr 6 ➡ Dillian Whyte 7 ➡ Alexander Povetkin 8 ➡ Kubrat Pulev 9 ➡ Luis Ortiz 10 ➡ Dereck Chisora I think there's a very good chance ... Ruiz, Povetkin, Pulev, Ortiz and Chisora will be gone from this list in the next couple of years.
what do the *’s mean? I’m guessing pending result of upcoming fight but I have learnt repeatedly to NEVER just guess.
Jalolov, Dubois and Hrgovic are obvious choices. Might throw Makhmudov there as a 4th name, and Cuban Frank Sanchez is facing Dawejko in March so based on how he looks there, he might be a candidate as well.
All are good choices. I'm a bit concerned that Makhmudov is going to be avoided tho. It's hard for me to think of abc top 15 ranked fighters who are going to take him on.
His promoter should push for Oscar Rivas since they're both based in Canada. Would be a hell of a fight too.
To be honest ... although Rivas would be a great fight I'd rather it not happen ... due to Rivas' eye problems. I think he had a detached retina and being hit with a Makhmudov uppercut could do him some serious damage. I guess Makhmudov might have to take a leaf out of Wilder's book and just build up quantity over quality if need be. If he gets to 25-0 it makes it hard for him to be ignored. Dychko is another I reckon might struggle to get good opposition ... but he needs to get journeymen who'll take him 10 rounds or close to it. There could be a reason related to stimina issues why he had trouble getting signed.
100%. Ortiz, Povetkin, and Pulev are very old. Ruiz Jr, might eat himself out of the top 10. 2-3 year from now Wilder will be old, but I suspect he'll be clipped if he fights men in the top ten who are not old. Chisora won't last in the top 10 either. 2-3 years from now, at least five names will be off this list, maybe more.
Once Makhmudov lands his uppercut, the end is near. Hrgovic I'm sold on. Jarolov could be a monster. Dubbios 50/50 Either way these guys are the future. Not old men, or fat men who currently occupy the top 10.
I think Milas only fought twice last year. Goodall is another HW who only fought twice in 2019 against modest opposition.
I don't really see chisora as top 10. There is the European champion who beat chisora who is nowhere to be seen. I think Dubois needs to beat joyce and he is in there already. Some decent fighters about. Over the next 5 years the new crop will be either found out or be champions.
