I still think Washington stoppage against wilder was awful!!! wilder was all over the shop swinging he could have been clocked himself
We all know your infatuated with AJ and pretend to hate him but you raised a good point. Joshua punch resistance. Wheres it at? He gets hurt by Whyte, Wlad and Ruiz. Chin clearly not granite. Wlad landed a straight right in the 10th round that literally bends Joshua head back until it nearly touched his back and Joshua chews it up. Ruiz in the rematch hit AJ with his best shot and again nothing. What's the deal. Can he take a punch or not. Bit of a mystery but I cant see Washington being the next guy to hurt him
Why all the worry,, Washington won't beat Martin anyway. What's incredibly pathetic is that the winner of this fight should be anywhere near a title shot. If Joshua had any pride he tell them to get lost with this matchup, take it to the press and embarrass the organization
Gerald Washington does well against fighters who are counterpunchers and don't apply too much pressure. Gerald outboxed good boxer Eddie Chambers and knocked out the tentative Robert Helenius. Gerald also boxed well against Wilder, when Wilder laid back and just looked for spots. (As soon as Wilder opened up, though, it was over.) The juiced to the gills, 300-pound Miller steamrolled him. So did Miller's friend and sparring partner Kownacki, and then Kownacki coincindentally/suddenly lost his ability to punch after his bud Miller got busted for PEDs. Charles Martin isn't a very aggresive fighter., so I expect Washington will do just fine against him. Odds are it'll go the distance. It's a tossup who wins. I won't be surprised if Washington gets the nod. As far as Joshua, Washington doesn't have really any chance at all. If Anthony Joshua begins fighting everyone like he did Andy Ruiz in their return, I think Washington would also do just fine in the ring against a passive, gun-shy Joshua. But nobody is ever going to get a decision over Joshua on a Matchroom show. And, if Anthony Joshua fights aggressively, like he did before Ruiz I, Joshua wipes him out fast. But Joshua's fights in 2019 were terrible. So, who knows. In the ring, I'm not sure who looked better in 2019. Washington or Joshua.
Washington's not a banger, but he punches fine. He boxes fine, too. He spars with a lot of the top heavyweights. I think the difference in the fight will be Martin's conditioning. Washington is always in shape. Can't say the same for Martin. And Charles Martin isn't the busiest guy in the ring. Seems like a fairly even fight to me. Toss up. Maybe even a draw.
I like Washington and hope he can beat Martin, but no way in living hell he comes near to even taking a round off Juicy J.
Yeah. He may as well schedule another fight that same night to get a decent workout as this fight would do well to see round 2 not that it will ever happen.
It seems crazy to me that such a **** fight can be an eliminator whilst we're about to have a domestic dust up in Dubois Joyce that would certainly provide a better challenger.
I reckon Charles Martin beats Washington. Martin was unlucky to lose to Kownacki whilst Kownacki walked down and battered Washington quickly. If Washington beats Martin and despite winning numerous rounds against Wilder he would cause AJ any problems at all and I expect AJ would KO him in 3.
