Wilder isn't mentally weak. He's not part of the intelligentsia by any stretch but his mental capacity is definitely sufficient for this sport. On top of that, he has an innate belief in his power and speed that he can ice anyone on Earth. That is most assuredly not mental weakness. Please guys, quit making me defend people who I'm not a fan of.
Wilder's mental state is fine. If anything, I wish he felt a bit more urgency to improve his boxing or at least flick out a more consistent jab. But his game is to wait patiently for the homerun shot. The idea that he'd panic because he's down on the cards is silly. That's pretty much how he fights every time out.
I think Wilder probably does know how very close he came to losing the first fight. But I don't think he is mentally week enough to fold, not when he has that atomic right hand which can land at any second. However, if this fight makes it to round 12, Wilder will be down on the cards and the reaction of these two for the last 3 minutes will be sensational. I just think Wilders tank at this point in the fight won't be enough (it wasn't last time since Fury got up like it never bothered him) BUT Furys this time will and the right hand will not connect. Wide UD Fury. I think the third fight will probably be closer as Wilder will come swinging from the start after this loss.
The marketing for Wilder has been great. This whole perfect for one second schtick acts like he's a lot more durable than I think he is. Don't be surprised if we see a heavier healthier Fury drop him in the rematch. He's been hurt plenty of times by less than massive punchers and for me this fight has a lot more variables than a lot of people think it does.
I think both guys know how close to came to winning or losing that first fight. It was highly competitive. This next fight should be a great one, particularly if Fury chooses to engage and tries to do some damage.
You dont dethrone a ten year reigning ATG away from home by being mentally weak Anyway Wilder is part of a cult that have been telling him he won for over a year slowly rebuilding his confidence to a point he believes the PBC clap trap
bookies usually have it right. When there is money involved emotions and personal bias usually take a back seat.
yeah I always think that, and HW devision is generally anyone just needs to be perfect for one second. If a HW lands clean it’s lights out whoever you are. But yeah great catch phrase for the casuals to swallow. Ha.
Couldnt that just mean that more money is being bet on Fury in the UK though? I remember Tyson v Holyfield 1 opening up at 25 to 1 odds, but going down to 7 to 1 on fight week because so many people were taking the long odds. Point being that the public themselves can shift the odds because the betting parlor has to cover.
Wilder Rematches to date = KO's. He's confident this will be the same result regardless if there was a draw the first time around or not. I believe because he knows Fury well enough now, the timing and range will be there. Not saying Fury will not win because he just might. Excited about this rematch no matter what!
Agree with this, my main thought for Wilder will be his physical state. I know he didn't get beat up in the Ortiz fight but it was only in November so he would have had a tough camp and he pretty much went straight back into camp for the Fury rematch. I know it's not like how Kovalev went in back to back camps for Yarde and Canelo but it could be a factor as Wilder is 34 now. He obviously doesn't have as much wear and tear as Kovalev and he doesn't have to make weight but I think it is something to consider.
Ironic considering you are again posting about two men you apparently despise This from the guy who posts 15+ times a day to defend the steroid cheat Whyte
