He definitely would clean house in this era. He was really good not truly great but he should of pick up a title
Spence, Porter, and Crawford would all beat him. Danny and Ugas probably would. Pac, Mikey and Thurman might.
I'm not sure why you typed all that out as I didn't omit anything nor comment really and most of what you typed here. So if Roberto Duran takes a drink of something that is mixed when he's fighting Bizzaro, and I say that's illegal, how on God's green earth does that mean I believe Duran NEEDED that to beat Bizzaro? Those are two VASTLY different things, nor have I tried to equate them together in any post I've made. Because Lance Armstrong was caught doping, does that automatically mean he could've have won any Tour without it? Who's to say, we'll never know, and THAT is the bottom line here. Taking such action precludes us from ever knowing what would've happened had one not take such an action. Further, there has NEVER been any question about whether Pryor did or didn't. This isn't about rumors it's about facts, not innuendo. The fact is this. Panama tells his corner help, get me the bottle... the help says, you mean the water bottle... Panama says NO (the key here NO), the black bottle. If it was just water, the answer would've been yes THAT bottle. He choose another bottle, which wasn't just water. Common flash, you're better than thinking there was just water in that bottle. It's hardly innuendo to say there was probably more than water in there.
Was it laced with antihistamines? Cocaine? Or Peppermint snaps? But that part. The Peppermint snaps, is conveniently forgotten. Like the 2nd fight.
Yes, because Carr won a split decision over Derrel Coley and beat a shot Campas at 154. Stuff of legends.
Now ephedrine...... Ok. I guess ephedrine also kept Pryor on his feet after those massive right hands Arguello landed early in the fight.
I do understand what ephedrine does. And where is the proof that he used it? Or is this another wild as accusation without any substantial evidence. And I know what ephedrine does, I have taken it myself in the mid nineties to help lose weight when I trained, before it was banned. My point was, if you dont understand ,ephedrine does not help a fighter absorb punishment . Nor does it help slip a punch, or counter a punch. It gives a rush. But usually very short lived, and it actually made me extremely tired and jittery after use.... But again you like everyone else is assuming the worst. I guess something as simple as Peppermint snaps is totally out of the question....
It's pretty well known that it was ephedrine. There is no shortage of documentaries and articles on Pryor and Panama Lewis.
You know that Pryor Arguello 2 doesn't necessarily mean anything right? You are seemingly hinging a huge part of your argument on the fact that a guy who was trying to fight a champion who was 4 yrs younger, who had a WHOLE 40 LESS FIGHTS, and going up into yet another weight class (another number 4? Odd...) was stopped sooner than in the first fight, to which I don't think I am likely wrong here with the following statement: He should have. Even had it been the "cleanest" and/or untainted of victories in the first fight for Pryor, conventional boxing wisdom would most likely be: "Good. He should have." Arguello had been in some rough fights. Whether anyone cheated in the Pryor corner isn't important in this, I am not touching that aspect in this post. But Arguello took a terrible beating in the first fight. The fact that he lost in quicker fashion in the second fight really isn't so much something so much that people here or elsewhere are conveniently forgetting, it is likely that they know the one doesn't have to have relation to the other, and it is likely they wouldn't. When Chavez beat Taylor in 8 rds in the rematch, does that mean he was actually winning the 1st fight before the stoppage? Just recently with the Joshua vs Ruiz II, there are many who believe a narrative that Joshua just proved he was KO'd in sparring by Joey whoever, came in with a bad ouchy, etc by controlling the rematch in the manner he did.
Arguello was unconscious from anywhere between 2-3 minutes and up to 4 minutes. He also, apparently, collapsed again just short of his dressing room. He left everything in the ring that night and i mean everything. It's lucky things didn't take a turn for the worse, much worse. He must have been flirting very close to the edge.
Right? That was something I meant to mention in that comment. And truthfully, I think it only adds to my point that, everything about bottle cheating, any of those innuendos/suspicions, if we take em and set them aside momentarily as though they didn't happen, what Pryor did in the second fight, stopping Arguello sooner, and in a more dominating fashion, proves nothing about the first fight. it is what boxing people would expect as being the most likely outcome, the outcome that should happen even. Basically I believe that the outcome of the second fight does nothing to vindicate any of the suspicions regarding the first fight
