This might make a good video topic. Say, the ten best years in boxing history? Personally, I find that there tend to be more good fights, or at least more video records of good fights since the invention of youtube than before it.

Yeah, when it comes to the 60s already there were as many fights with reputations but no footage to be found when I tried to make a list. And the 40s are kind of a bummer when there's not even footage of all the Fight of the Year fights. Then besides restoration problems the sixties and seventies were really big abroad when we had a big influx of Latino and Asian talent, and all of the commentary is in Spanish or Japanese. I've thought about doing my own commentary over the tapes in English and re-uploading them to youtube but I don't think there's enough demand to make something like that worthwhile.

It's too bad the WBC or the WBA don't keep an archive of all their sanctioned fights for posterity. If it was a major organization like that then maybe things wouldn't get dumped in warehouses by television networks and then lost in the occasional fire. I wonder what is going to happen to HBO's 50 year collection now that they are getting out of the business. ESPN has some sort of old collection but they rarely show anything besides Ali fights.
