funny, this fight has two stars on the boxrec, while fight for the real belt has only one star

El Nica's going to get battered tonight. Barrera is relentless and did damn well against Canizales, arguably deserved a draw, he even did well at times against Taguchi, and the Taguchi he fought was the badass killer Taguchi, not the semi-shot version that took on Tanaka.

..if you mean the Daniel Matellón Ramos vs. Erik Omar López García bout, that one actually happens to be another WBA interim belt special (and so no more 'legit' a world championship than Concepción vs. Barrera is)

Ahhh now I see. Tomorrow's fight, to me (still February seventh evening in my time zone). You're not in the Western hemisphere then.

And yeah the WBA is so devalued at this point, the regular and interim are interchangeable (and sometimes the interim superior).

Generally the "super" champ is the best of their belt holders, though, with rare exceptions.

IntentionalButt what do you think about current fly weight? imo, it is bad that Tanaka left this weight.
I wanted to see Tanaka - Julio Cesar Martinez

Yeah, unfortunately I think El Rey is a great emerging at just the wrong time, with the division itself not in such great shape. He's going to dominate it but...meh, so what, if the landscape is this barren?

Slug-fest, each landing at least a blow every second. They've obviously been keeping up this pace for a long time, as they are fatigued and pushing their punches, but still putting as much steam on them as they can muster.

Concepción seemed to get the best of the last two minutes of R8 that I saw, driving Barrera into the ropes, but aside from generalship the connects were dead even in both quantity and impact.
