Not at all; it all comes down to how you scored the 3rd and the 11th (and if you felt 12 was one-sided enough to be 10-7 with only one KD, but I doubt many would).

Evidently all the Puerto Ricans, especially the Americans, came out in masse for Velez on Twitter. I doubt Panamanians give a **** enough to get on Twitter and plead their case.

Nope, we need to give human phlegm-wad Jim Gray a platform to gratuitously name-drop and fluff himself up with his "I knew him from boyhood" anecdotes.

Dude was a freaking basket ball player. They acted like we lost some humanitarian or some brilliant scientist that added to humanity.

I mean, he's widely beloved...tributes during basketball games for the next few months (or even on general sporting programs and networks, like SportsCenter and the other ESPN analysis shows) does make sense.

I'm not sure I can recall a boxing card dwelling this much on the passing of any famous (even Hall of Fame) baseball or hockey or football players, though.

Judges agreed on 10 of the 12 rounds, Two swing rounds made the difference on the cards. It was that kind of fight. No issue here with the zult, even if I had it by a point for Velez.

...and now a memorial 10-bell salute and moment of silence? For somebody not directly involved with this sport in any way? :dunno

I can pronounce Tögstsogt (in the way of the Mongols)! I'll be your friend. These other Western idiots be damned...

Yes for basketball games to make a big deal out of it and for sporting station but for other organization that has nothing to do with basketball to make a big deal out of this , like a 10 bell salute, is wrong n my opinion.

Agreed, the moment they started that I stopped defending it altogether (plus the Jim Gray segment was already nauseating enough)

It's a symptom of modern celebrity

Freakin' Muhammad Ali, the most famous athlete of all time and a true transcendent figure, died less than 4 years ago and didn't get 1/10th this much love from the sporting media.

    Anyways, back to the fights...
