'You can be the A-side because I'll put you on your backside' Kell is one of the greatest personalities in boxing today, shame he's totally washed and fighting to make a bit more money and big nights on typical Matchroom cards like tonight.
And they will never mention Whytes drugs ban either. There is an obvious agenda against Galahad not sure why.
Hope Kell takes a couple more easy warm up fights like tonight, builds his bank balance up a little more before taking either a fight with Smith or a world title shot for a final payday. He can milk the comeback trail story for a little longer before cutting his losses and getting out of the sport via a bad loss as he will based on what I saw tonight, could be just rust but the snap, timing and reflexes have faded with all the layoffs and injuries. Still a good fringe world level operator but his day's a top 5 WW or LMW are over, just hope he makes his money before retiring unhurt.
Couldn't really tell much, Brook did what he was supposed to do against a lesser opponent I would still like to see Brook v Khan as a final fight for both guys
I wouldnt anymore. Both guys past their best and Khan doesnt deserve the huge payday for the way he has dodged Brook over the years.
The Allen fight was a farce, it was all fake tippy tap WWE for 2 rounds before Darch fell over in the 3rd. Total joke. Plus Allen needs to shed a stone of the lard he was carrying. Looked very slow, ponderous and lacking any real variant of ideas in his attacking strategy. Gallahad was impressive and duly earned a very good win. Concentration levels were switched on, good movement and a variety within his positioning / attacks. Brook, given he has had 14 months out, aged and would have ring rust in his gloves, looked reasonably sharp as far as comeback fights go once he found his rhythm from R3 onwards. Whilst he should forget about Khan, he will spark him @ 154 should they ever meet. I say this as someone who favoured Khan in the past @ 147. The other plus point is that the storm interference held out on my TV for the Brook fight, was a nightmare in the 10 minutes before that.
It was a little depressing watching him last night. Galahad had just boxed and at a very high level. Then Kell comes out and he's just as you say, everything is a few percent off what he used to have. He can still look good as long as he's very carefully matched, but talk of holding another world title sounds fanciful to me unless they really luck out with finding a weak champion or a vacant belt. When he's interviewed he's saying all the right things, but it feels like a guy reading a script. His eyes tell a different story. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it? Hearn has obviously lined up Liam Smith and even he may be a bridge too far for current Kell Brook.
You're right about the length of time he's had out of the ring. Maybe we should cut him some slack. Although he looked terrible then as well.
Watched last nights boxing and heres my humble view - Martin J Ward looked good always in control of the fight even though the Mexican was limited ability wise. I don't know what it is but MJW just never appeals to me as a fight fan (had the same with Crolla), don't get me wrong i can tell he is obviously talented but for some reason i just cant get excited for his fights, maybe that will change when (if) he goes up levels. Dave Allen done what he is good and that being Dave Allen. Showboating against Darch who cant really hurt him shows nothing new. The truth is he is a likeable guy but where is he actually going ? Dubois or Joyce ? I personally wouldn't want to see that for his health, also if he waits around a year or two im sure there will be fresher more talented HWs turning over (frazer clarke etc) who he can be matched with but he will be a stepping stone. Personally id like to see him call it a day now he can go out on the back of a win but im sure he will carry on. I thought Galahad was great but have always been a big fan. I think he would be a truly elite fighter if he had more power as part from that he can do everything. We all know he should really be World Champion now. Terri Harper handled business well, she looks the real deal and would happily see her vs Taylor next year, especially as i think Taylor may have peaked and will start to decline soon where Harper is going to get better. Brook was decent but it doesnt answer in questions, he is probably as good as he was up at 154, just because De Luca was very very limited doesn't negate that he is durable and Brook was landing at will. The problem is the division is stacked with fighters that can all beat each other but dont offer much reward.
