Who knows what the details of the contract were. Probably nobody other than the managers and lawyers involved. I doubt the deal fell apart because one fighter was scared. This ain't the schoolyard. Both sides have to be comfortable with the business arrangements.
You're right. Yet, Joshua will spend six or seven months before he gets in the ring with him. Drop a belt in the meantime. And Pulev is probably the only fight he'll have this year. Another night like the one he had at MSG, and the endorsements go away. So Joshua will spend as little time in the ring this year as possible. That's where we are.
If, as Ortiz's team said, they were unaware of the deal then it's in Ortiz's best interests to ditch the management team that went behind his back and forced him to lose millions. Has he done that? That'll show how truly p***ed off he was at the decision.
If we are talking about quitting it matters. IHe didnt try to get back in the fight, just went along with stopping it. Shows he has a little dog in him. When pushed hard he may quit.
Yeah, maybe, or he may opt to box smart if he feels it's required of him. Either scenario is possible. None of us. But Ortiz and his team have publicly come out with statements claiming they knew nothing about the deal and were extremely angry at losing it to Ruiz. If I were Ortiz and all this were true I'd ditch whoever was responsible in a heartbeat. Actions speak louder than words and all that. Has he done that? I don't know and can't really be bothered to check, but it'd be a good way of pointing to if he was telling the truth or not.
