    Shameless, absolutely shameless.

A fight against a 35 year old opponent who is now ranked 537 in the world on Boxrec and had a record of 4-48-3.

Seriously, I'm all for a little sharpener, a fight to blow off any cobwebs but this sort of showing is ridiculous, dangerous and embarrassing.

The WBO should actually ignore that fight, not even acknowledge it, surely it would have to be with somebody more capable?

I can't wait to see Yarde gets a vacant title shot against.. FW relationship with the WBO makes me wonder if some bang average random will be installed at 15 just to get Yarde an easy night.

Nightclub in Madrid. The only broadcast I can find is from a phone :/

As a positioning fight it is astute, but as a boxing fan it is depressing.

ihe was the only remotely comparable i could think of.I agree though yarde's resume is abysmal and even paints smith's in a positve light.

Someone was criticising young Tommy Fury’s opponent a few weeks back. This, is arguably worse.

It's no big deal. Chisora did it before facing Kabayel and Liam Smith did it after losing to Canelo. Nothing to see here.

Come on. It’s clearly ridiculous. It may be a way to work the system but what sort of legitimate sport would have a contest like this?

Plenty of sports but I can't be bothered going into detail about that. Yarde isn't the first and certainly won't be the last to have fights like this. Someone like Chisora has had plenty of fights like this in between his big fights but no one makes a fuss about that. It's not a big deal imo.

‘Plenty of sports but I can’t be bothered going into the detail’ basically means ‘no sports.’

Boxing isn’t the FA Cup. It’s not everyone in the hat and, would you believe it, Deontay Wilder is only away at Dorian Darch. I cannot believe anyone without an agenda would defend a fight like this.

Well the new Zealand rugby team played Tonga before the rugby World Cup last year, won 92-7 in what was a clear and obvious mismatch where Tonga who struggle to compete with their best available side weren't even at full strength for that game so there's one example.

Look, as I said, many fighters have done it. He'll go into a bigger fight next time out its no big deal. I didn't care when Liam Smith or Chisora did it and I don't care that Yarde has done it either.

Rugby being a particularly pathetic example given how few nations play. New Zealand v Tonga may be one sided but as per the current world rankings it’s the second best against the team ranked 14th.

Boxrec has Yarde as the 14th ranked light heavy and he’s just fought the worlds 535th ranked middleweight.

New Zealand would be a good example if they were playing, I don’t know. Paraguay under nineteens.

I could give many more examples but it's a boxing forum not a sports forum to give you various examples on a certain issue you have. I proved an example to you and now you're annoyed and are giving your usual childish responses which you'll now go on and on about like you always do. I've made my point on this topic and I'll leave it at that.

No, I think you’ll find you couldn’t give examples because if you could, you’d just give them rather than waste your time posting waffle about how you could give examples but blah blah blah.

It’s fine, (indeed normal), to say this is blatant fudging of a system which allows itself to be exploited. These sort of non-contests are pointless in every regard save the fact it allows the certain winner to enter a title fight. That doesn’t mean there’s nothing wrong with them. A genuine boxing fan who sees nothing wrong in a world title challenging light heavy fighting the world’s five hundred and something ranked middleweight is either driven by an agenda or simply isn’t a fan of the sport.

You don't 'play' boxing and this is dangerous - Yarde could have seriously damaged this fella if he went for it

Exactly. Yarde has a dig if nothing else and looks like was divisions bigger than the guy who was facing. Just mind numbingly dense from all involved could they have not got a decent level British/Euro/ fighter in to give him some rounds.

There is no justification for a fight like this. None.
