I most definitely do not agree. Floyd was a master boxer and an incredible fighter but for me as you go up the weights more and more guys beat him. Just a short list imo.

    SFW
I'd only pick Henry Armstrong & Roberto Duran. Even in his younger days guys like Buchanan and Marcel couldn't come close to taking a young Duran, I can't see Floyd doing it either as he tended to stand his ground a bit more than. Armstrong wouldn't show him 0 respect and come forward constantly throwing a ridiculous amount of punches, he'd take a lot of leather but would out-work and out-land Floyd imo. Those are the only 2 who I think would and not because they're better, just toxic styles for him. Guys like Arguello and Pacquiao are obviously hard fights but I'd pick Floyd on points in 60/40 type fights.

    LW
Doors open up here a bit. A few guys have shots here. Armstrong, Duran & Chavez are my definite picks based on styles, Whitaker is a 50/50, Floyd could probably take it by picking his spots with the straight lead and body jab but Whitaker could also out-manouvre him and use his amazing jab to take a win. McFarland is a legend but I've not seen film of him to make a pick. Gans and Leonard are awesome but a little old school to beat Floyd, Leonard was upright when he moved and be open to body shots. His workrate wasn't crazy either. Floyd beats him at arm's length, Floyd does similar to Gans but imo loses to Gans in his era as he wouldn't be able to grapple with him.

Julio Cesar Chavez is literally 3 levels(at least!) above Castillo who was a virtual Chavez copy cat. Chavez walks Floyd down and sets up his shots with high volume that Floyd can't stop.

    JWW
Only 4 here. José Napoles, Julio Cesar Chavez, Armstrong and Aaron Pryor.

Pryor is the sus pick, but imo it boils down to Floyd(or anybody) having the ability to shut down Pryor's offence and Floyd not having the power to bang out a KO. Pryor would be throwing every second and landing lots more than Floyd, even if he was missing more. Floyd is levels above Pryor but this is a BAD style for him.

For Napoles he's just as good a boxer as Floyd but has a much more explosive offence and would out-hustle Floyd, keeping on him and landing hard fairly often. It'd be a highly competitive fight with near perfect fundamentals from two certified ATGs. I'd love to see it, but I got Mantequilla in that one. Same at WW.

    WW
Too many to list in detail with reasons but the main shouts would be the Sugar Rays, Tommy Hearns, Napoles & Armstrong again, prime Del a Hoya, Graham, Rodriguez ect.

I'm also subscribed to the theory that Paul Williams would've beat Floyd had they fought, I don't think Floyd has a Sergio Martinez esc punch to pull it off and/or stop Paul from throwing a hundred awkwardly angled punches a round.

Also all of these statements are wrong imo and only one is arguable(Sweet Pea) but just a word on Hagler. Marv was a small MW, if he fought today(day before weigh in era) he'd have no issues make 154, I reckon he would've been able to drain down to 147 actually. Anyways, if him and Floyd were to fight at 154 Marvin would beat him bad. Floyd was unbelievable vs Canelo & Cotto but the fluid boxer-puncher style of a prime Hagler was nasty and that right hand would give Floyd tons of things to think about whilst setting up the left which I don't think Floyd could take. Prime Floyd would be able to outbox the versions from the Leonard & Mugabi fights though.

Couldn’t agree more. What’s the point in comparing him to other prime greats when he played a big part in not fighting the prime great in Pacquiao when he had the chance.

Watch the first Castillo fight and tell me what happens if Duran or Chavez are in there instead. Murder.

I dont agree with your assessment. I can see how an argument can be made for floyd in each of those fights and youre certainly entitled to your opinion. Floyd's fight selection, when he fought the opponents he did and under what terms, above jww leads me to believe he would struggle with the atg fighters at those weights.

Skimmed through the first part of garbage and read that and couldn't stop laughing. What exactly is Floyd going to do to beat Hearns? That's literally his worst stylistic match up in all of boxing history at WW for him.

100 percent disagree. Floyd is good, even great, but not invincible. Styles make fights. Hearns, Leonard, Duran, Pryor, Mosely (at 135), Arguello, JCC, Paul Williams, Whitaker could all beat him. A lot of them easier than others. I'm not saying Floyd wouldn't win against some, but he'd lose against most.

Hearns A perfect Boxer Puncher - Was outboxing Leonard most of their first fight.

Duran, Pryor, Mosely, JCC - too much pressure, too good a chin, so many punches thrown, Floyd's low output and pop shot would not win.

Leonard, Whitaker - is the two I'd go 50/50 on. I think Floyd would figure both guys out for a draw, SD, or possibly get outpointed.

Arguello and Paul Williams - Precise shots, lots of offense, wouldn't let Floyd get off. They were both long and fast enough to keep Floyd to busy on Defense.

These are my thoughts on why I think Floyd loses. Say what you want. Some folks agree, some dont, the funny thing is, we will never know.
