El oh el. And Holyfield, meantime, wasn’t wearing himself down giving and taking beatings for all that time? Was he in a time-freezing hyperbaric chamber reversing his own aging effects? Go look at the Ruddock fights before he went to prison and explain to me how Tyson was throwing crisp combos, evading Razor’s punches, not squaring up, never initiating clinches because he was so daisy fresh, etc. You’ve bought the myth. Fact is this former cruiserweight backed Tyson up and outmuscled him and bullied him from the opening bell of the first fight until Tyson started biting and doing everything he could to get out of the ring in the second fight. Holyfield had more champion in his heart. Tyson stared into the abyss and saw Evander staring back.
Given the mentioned renditions of these two men I would have to go with Tyson. I am not however decided on the exact nature of the outcome.
Peak 1988 Tyson and Tyson who fought Holyfield in 1996 are different boxers. The combo is gone. Gone is the speedkills ideology. MAYBE Tyson's chin has also weakened. I predict Tyson to win by knockout. Holmes and Spinks fell; both the only time.
I suspect Holyfield beats Tyson. I've always felt he had Tyson's number and I genuinely feel he outworks and maybe stops a tiring Tyson late. Mike could go 12 but not at pace, the occasions he fought twelve seemed to be almost a collective amnesty with fighters he couldn't knock out. Would have been fun finding out and I freely admit I might be entirely wrong....
First off, the Evan Fields thing happened in 2007, long after Evander had twice disposed of Mike Tyson. So there’s absolutely no basis for assuming he was on steroids at the time they fought except for people looking for excuses for Tyson. He never failed a drug test. (Tyson, on the other hand, failed at least one and admits to using a fake dick with his baby’s urine to cheat drug tests. Hmmm.). Tyson has a business partnership with a company that produces PEDs. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-fight-non-traditional-treatment/73968448007/
Tyson's regression since 1987 has been very clear, he not only stopped developing but simply began to get weaker and weaker. Boxing, mentally... Before Holyfield he had 4 fights in 5 years, none of them lasted longer than 3 rounds and in total it was 20 minutes of a really bad fight... He was absolutely not ready for a high level... I agree with Holy he always had Tyson's number but no Saint seemed to be at the same level as Tyson in 1988, none!
He put on 20 LBS from 88-89, thats just not something that can happen. Clearly juiced. People keep talking about this kids pee thing, is there a source for this??? Also boxers do sponsorships all the time, doesn’t mean they take the product.
They're both and Holyfield never failed a test because he fought for most of his career in the 90s when it was the far-west of allat stuff
Are you suggesting he put on that weight moving from cruiser to heavyweight? If so, it's not the jump you are making it out to be. Holyfield would have been cutting weight to make cruiser and then no need to do so at heavyweight. It would actually he easy to 'put on' 20lb in a year, most of it would simply have been walking around weight...
