Ray Mercer didn`t have Louis`s skillset either and was quite short compared to Lewis but nailed him time and time again.
Louis performed better against larger sized HWs, he'd also be the most skillful puncher Lennox ever fought. Peak Lennox went life and death with an unknown euro-level CW and arguably dropped 5 rounds to a much smaller washed up Holyfield. I don't write that to denigrate Lennox but just show that he wasn't this invincible destroyer that many on here want to pretend he was and size alone doesn't confer him an unassailable advantage.
Louis at his peak was just a thing of beauty. To fast for Lewis who probably never saw anything like him. Eventually he’s gonna get rocked. Probably knock joe down in the process.
Winning by scores of 117-111 | Tom Kaczmarek 119-109 | Bob Logist 117-112 Is not going life and deah.
Yes, but nowhere near as skilled as he was. Plus Lous knocked out guys who were taller or heavier than Lennox or both
No he just had more reach, Schmeling had quuite a bit of skill but not as much power as Lewis, Conn did well against a much bigger man than himself, Lewis usually benefitted from being bigger or taller than his opposition, I feel Walcott and Charles were more skilled than Lewis despite being much smaller, both would have boxed Mercer`s ears off.
