Fantasy fights that end in an upset

Hahaha - I think you know that isn't what would happen.

Who do you think hit harder, Tommy Hearns or Julian Jackson? I'd say for one punch power they are pretty close and McCallum didn't go down from one straight on the button from Jackson.

I don't think Hearns would start this one all guns blazing as he knew enough about McCallum to realise that he would get countered pretty quick if he got reckless. I feel this would be more tactical than flat out exciting, but I favour Hearns on a close decision. No upset here.

 

Eusebio Pedroza v Salvador Sanchez. I don't know how much this would be considered an upset for Pedroza to win on this forum now but had they met in 1983, Sanchez would have been the betting favourite.

 

Hearns' str8 rt hand at it's best is miles harder than ANYTHING Julie Jackson ever thru.
I stick with my pick. In 1984, Thomas Hearns James Schulers', Fred Hutchins' Mike McCallum..

 

I actually pick an upset in Hearns - McCallum too. Not in who wins but in how. I too think Hearns could take him out and shock us like he did with Duran. Sometimes you simply have to pick the shock finish. If Duran never fought Hagler and we had a dream fight of Hearns vs Duran at 154 nobody would be picking Hearns via huge KO. Same with Nunn - Kalambay tho that is a much bigger outlier given Hearns did KO other fine foes and was one of histories greatest punchers.

 

I'm not convinced anyone in history around 154 had a right hand 'miles harder' than Julian Jackson. Hearns is obviously levels above Jackson as a fighter, but McCallum was levels above Fred Hutchins and James Schuler. I love Hearns but this would be a tough, tough fight for him.

 

I think Lomachenko would beat Packey McFarland in a single bout (best of three, now that's different).

Lennox Lewis vs. the Mike Weaver who fought Holmes and Coetzee. Lewis would probably rock the hell out of Weaver overall...but Mike had Tyson-level power in both hands (he was just too bizarrely lazy and/or needing inspiration to use them often enough).

More succinctly, as great as Lewis indubitably was, Weaver had the kind of power and hard-to-predict timing that could prove to be Lewis' night-nights time.

 

I think McCallum takes Hearns out like he did with Curry.

 

He'd be far more dangerous than Rahman and McCall

I loved Quartey. And, the beastly version that chopped down Espana has a small chance. But, he took too many punches, and got hurt by far less punchers than Trinidad. Tito likely wins by KO in 6-8.
