I think the funniest thing about this photo is Warrington standing like he’s the biggest and hardest bloke there.
Oh dear ............. not another Warren loss. Dubois better not lose or Yarde take up a modelling job cos that will be curtains.
Josh Warrington leaving won’t finish Frank, but it’s a straw on a camel’s back scenario. Smith, Fury, Warrington, Saunders all leaving looks terrible long term.
At the moment, Fury is still fighting on BT so even though Frank is not steering he’s still in the vehicle. Smith & Saunders have gone nowhere so far since leaving Frank. Both fighting on ridiculous undercards in the states. Billy Joe is currently left waiting on the curb like a hooker waiting to see if Canelo will come past and pick him up.
Frank has a huge stable of fighters. He just needs to put on more shows. Frank has signed a few Uzbekistan fighters such the 168 WBC Silver Champ. He is also supposed to be signing Kevin Lerena.
BT, through their relationship with Frank, having poured money and marketing resources into Fury when he was fat and washed up, then get told that they have to match their biggest competitor for the privilege of showing his biggest fight. Sky then bid high, knowing they have the subscriber base to cover their losses and in turn they ensure even when BT sport do show the fight they'll struggle to make money. I'd feel properly shafted if I were them. If I were BT Sport I'd not be happy with what's happened since they announced that deal. Many of the fighters they've been building on their platform are now gone. I wonder if a phone call to MTK may take place at some point... It's a shame, because it's in our interests as fans and that of the domestic sport that BT stay involved and Frank provides Matchroom with some stiff competition.
More Fury’s fault that to be fair, he played BT I think with letting his contract run by fighting several bums on PPV, not a lot Frank could have done there. I agree, BT need more to provide competition.
Frank has got some good young and upcoming talent but he’s lost all his established stars. At his age I’m not sure if he’s really got time to rebuild his stable. I think now we might get Dubois fast tracked to becoming a world champion and if it happens then Frank could retire on top. I worry for Frank if Joyce comes and ruins his party...
Saunders will never be a huge star and neither will Smith, but if indeed the Canelo fight comes along for Saunders it’ll be Hearn promoting it and Frank won’t be involved. Likewise if Brook v Smith happens it’ll do decent business for Hearn involving two fighters who both left Frank Warren. We’ve been over this several times now but the tide is clearly turning away from Frank and he’s back in the position of having a negligible quantity of names and looks reliant on Dubois and a few of his unknowns coming through. Problem being some of them have been promoted terribly in the last year, Catterall being an obvious example.
I agree it was Fury, but BT had put their trust in Frank and would presumably have thought his relationship, together with their money may have bought them a seat at the table. I really like how BT sport promote their fight's, they understand digital and create good content, but they need the raw materials and I can see them pulling out of boxing if this doesn't improve.
I agree. I think they are crying out for a new promoter to come along who can get over to the casual market like Hearn did at Sky. Would actually like to see someone like the Sauerland bros with MTKs stable. Would have been a great alternative to Sky.
