Seriously? People are thinking Fury can beat Lewis because he beat the sloppiest, most inaccurate champion of all time? Deontay Wilder misses the pads for Christ sake, the guy has no idea how to box. Using Wilder as any sort of measuring stick of how Lennox would do against Fury is insane.
Fury frustrates him for the first half of the fight, but Lewis grinds him down to a late stoppage from being behind on the cards
Fury on points. Good money to be made on the upset pick. Manny Steward heavyweights are great textbook fighters... but like Wlad, Lennox would have trouble with the movement, length, handspeed, head movement, and unconventional style of Fury. He'd make Lennox look ponderous by comparison. I'm consistent with this...despite being a huge Wlad fan, I knew Fury would be a much more difficult fight than most predicted. Styles make fights. I don't think people fully appreciate that a) Fury rises to the level of his opposition and b) his blend of attributes is unheard of, making him extremely difficult to prepare for.
Lennox Lewis has achieved Mythical status here on ESB along with the old classical fighters of the past.

Oh Lennox for sure. No way Fury can beat him. He could make it awkward and a little frustrating for sure, but it should be a comfortable UD at least. Lennox is an ATG shortlister.
Difficult for sure. Fury is just a nightmare for anyone. He seems to have a 6th sense which makes him do everything you don't want him to do. I can imagine Lewis swatting flies and getting frustrated. Add to this the fact that Fury would be one of the very few Fighters who were bigger than Lennox. To win, Lewis would have to walk through Fury's shots in order to close the gap and land his big right hand. That in itself would be a gamble as marching through punches, even Fury's relatively light shots, while heaving your own big blows will burn a lot of gas. I can see Lewis getting to Fury and stopping him in 8 or 9 rounds but it would be a desperately uncomfortable night for him. He would absolutely need Emanuel Steward in his corner.
The difference is, Lewis could actually box. He had a far superior jab to Fury. It was authoritative and damaging, unlike Fury's backhand flick that couldn't take the skin of a rice pudding. Fury would be on his bike the whole fight, desperately trying to con the judges with his prancing around like a fairy while not actually inflicting anything remotely damaging. Lewis cuts the ring off, breaks down and stops Fury in brutal fashion.
Fury is a clever fighter but Lewis equally so. Also Lewis has much better power and better combinations. I can see a fairly even first few rounds as Lewis figures Fury out, then he goes to work and wears down Fury with a series of hurtful combinations. TKO10 Lewis.
During his career Lewis’s ability to move, his foot speed, his judgement of distance and his array of combination punching was compared to Ali. It was a genuine comparison rather than the unsubstantiated bravado we hear about Fury. Lewis always spoke about boxing as a chess game, he changed his strategy to beat any given opponent, sometimes visibly changing multiple times during a fight. He could come out and blow dangerous fighters away inside a couple of rounds as he did with Golota, Ruddock and Grant. He could also box and move going backwards while still landing heavy shots as he did v Tua & Tyson. Those talking of Lewis as a big stiff heavy who’d get out manoeuvred by Fury either never saw him fight or are clueless about boxing in general. Fury could employ his herky jerky, flim flam and showboating but Lewis was an experienced boxer, puncher who’s ring IQ exceeded that of Fury. Lewis hit hard with both hands and he delivered that power with short direct punches, no telegraphed loading up like Wilder, he’d brutally knock fury out inside 6 rounds.
