    :huh

The footage shows a back and forth battle, with Villa exploding with some fantastic and ferocious punches to spark Wilde out.

Jimmy was past his best, had been out for over a year, and was coming off a loss to ATG Pete Herman.

Not humilating at all. The footage shows he was still in it as well, and giving it a good go.

If we're going with 'losses to great opposition' (which Villa was, and was highly regarded going into that fight) then Cowdell Vs Nelson is far worse.

i can't agree.cowdell was nothing but a decent british fighter, thrown in against a world class operator.if he'd gotten starched in the opening seconds of the fight,i still don't think it would've been huniliating.he never had a hope of winning this one.ever.

115-112 is obviously a savage one sided beat down. The problem with that fight is that over the years people have said it was a 120 -108 scrap without ever seeing it and with the retelling it becomes fact.

Jack Bodell, the newly crowned British, Commonwealth and European Heavyweight champion, losing to Jerry Quarry in 64 seconds is embarrassing to watch and deserves a mention.

"Jerry, did you find Bodell awkward?"

    "Well, he sure fell awkward"

Paul Ryan was unbeaten and on the verge of a world title shot, when he faced the then unheralded Jon Thaxton who was a late sub and 10-3 (4). Inside of a round Ryan was unconscious from a single left hand.

Jason Matthews was being positioned as the next big thing in the middleweight division in the late 90s, when they brought over a light hitting Hungarian named Lorant Szabo who had previously fought at 147/154. Matthews ended up getting stopped in the sixth. Matthews went on to win the WBO title against Ryan Rhodes, while Szabo went 8-15 over the remainder of his career and never beat another fighter with a winning record. One of the most inexplicable results I've seen in British boxing.

The comical Jack Bodell losing his British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles to Danny McAlinden inside two rounds shouldn't be overlooked.

Years later, the comical, seriously deluded Bodell told Barry McGuigan that McAlinden wasn't fit to lace his boots!!!

But then again, it can't be easy to lace someone's boots when you're stood up and the other guy is lying flat on his back.

To be fair to McAlinden, there aren't many fighters who can they say they beat Ali in Madison Square Garden...
