Substitute the word "Lineal" with the word "THE" ... THE WORLD Heavyweight Champion.

Because that's who the LINEAL champion is.

    THE World Champion.

Heavyweight champion of the World. World Champion, lineal champion you can call the winner of Wilder v Fury whatever you want but the fact is the man of the division will still be the Landlord aka Anthony AJ Joshua!! THE World champion.... Hahaha

    Not really. (LOL)

On a serious note, Joshua needs to get going with his plans. If he falls behind these two further and only fights once this year, against someone like Pulev no less, he's going to become less of a factor.

Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce are fighting in April, and the winner of that will likely get a RING top 10 rating (the winner will crack the WBC top 10). And both Dubois and Joyce will have closer connections with the management of the Fury-Wilder winner than Joshua does.

It shouldn't take Joshua six, seven or eight months to prepare for freaking Pulev. Wilder fought Ortiz two weeks before Joshua's last fight, and Wilder is fighting Fury in nine days.

Joshua isn't "the guy" anymore. A lot of name heavyweights are lining up significant fights. Joshua needs to recognize that and plan accordingly. If he has mandatories, get them out of the way fast.

The OP is on point. You don't have to believe that the winner is the best fighter in the division, but he **will** be the world, lineal champion. There is no disputing that Fury and Wilder are the top two Ring fighters, nor is there really much argument that their status is undeserved. Joshua's bad day in New York dropped him to No. 3, and he'll rightfully move up to No. 2 (barring another draw) in 10 days.

Hopefully, the winner of the fight will continue to take on challenging opponents. I'm not excited about a trilogy between them, either. The winner needs to fight Joshua, the soon to be No. 2 fighter and ultimate rainmaker in the division. And if it's Wilder, it needs to happen this year because he's getting older.

K...the people who decide such things, disagree. That’s a fact, not a belief.

Oh bore off with the history lecture, you sanctimonious moron. You mean “you” not “we”. You don’t speak for everyone you total cretin.

And FYI Wilder has beaten just 1 of the current Ring magazine top 10 that you hold so dear. Fury? None. Joshua? 4.

What people are they? What “fact”? The Ring Mag? It’s no longer an independent publication. There is a conflict of interest with the owners. Sorry.

And when were there other belt holders who held 3 of the 4 main belts whilst this World Champion only had 1. Lol

Yeah we will, Wilder by vicious KO, I honestly believe it's going to be so brutal, I think it's going to look a little like Ray Mercer Vs Tommy Morrison.

But Fury slumped over the ropes instead of being caught in them, Fury sparked out and Wilder trying his best to get that "body", just laying in to him.

Larry Holmes was the World Champion when he had ZERO belts.

There were only two belts (the WBC and WBA) in 1983. Holmes vacated the WBC title. Tim Witherspoon won the vacant belt in early 1984. Gerrie Coetzee was the WBA champion.

The IBF was formed in 1983. And it decided to award its inaugural heavyweight title to Holmes. So, Holmes had one of the three belts. But, for a time, he had zero.

When Holmes defended against Marvis Frazier, he wasn't the reigning champ of any org.

Didn't matter. He was the WORLD Champion. And he was recognized as THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.

Mike Tyson held three belts when there were only three belts, and Michael Spinks had ZERO, but Spinks was the World Champion.

Spinks had defeated the World Champion Holmes. He'd also picked up the IBF belt from Holmes. Then Spinks vacated the IBF belt. And Tyson won the belt he'd vacated.

Tyson became the WORLD champion when he knocked out Spinks.

So, in answer to your question, there have been World Champions with NO belts.

If you don't pay a sanctioning body its fees, or fight who they tell you to fight, or both, they strip you.

World Champions lose their titles in the ring or when they retire.

The winner of this fight could subsequently dump the WBC title (like Holmes dumped the WBC belt and Spinks dumped the IBF belt) and he'd still be THE WORLD CHAMPION.

He'll be the WORLD CHAMPION until he loses in the ring or retires.

What conflict of interest does RING have with the fight coming up?

    Which fighter are they backing?

Who does Golden Boy want to control the Heavyweight Championship? Bob Arum, who the Golden Boy org despises and has sued numerous times? Or Al Haymon, who the Golden Boy org despises and has sued numerous times?

The undefeated Tyson Fury and the undefeated Deontay Wilder are the top two heavyweights. There is nothing wrong with either of their ratings.

Joshua was rated ahead of them before he was dropped four times eight months ago and spit out his mouthpiece and quit. Joshua dropped to #3. Fury and Wilder moved up one spot each.

They're the top two. They're undefeated. The only blemishes on their records (a draw) came against each other.

This is a legitimate fight for the World Heavyweight Title. And the winner will be presented with the RING belt in a ceremony in the weeks after the fight.

It happens so rarely ... the undefeated #1 contender vs the undefeated #2 contender to restart a lineage that people should enjoy the moment.

    It's rare.

You'll be witnessing history on February 22.

It doesn’t matter, the Ring is not the credible publication it once was. The bottom line is, whoever wins on 22nd Feb will be disputed by Joshua. Boxing fans want to see that fight. Why are you so desperate to crown Wilder or Fury when nothing has really changed since their 1st fight? Like I said, believe what you want to believe but it’s pretty ****ing obvious that the arguments won’t stop as you claim. Your own thread is proof of that!

As I've pointed out in this thread with the names of 20 or 30 other boxers who held belts while another man was THE WORLD CHAMPION, we can all recognize someone has a belt.

That doesn't mean THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP is in dispute.

Nobody has a problem saying Larry Holmes was THE WORLD champ and Gerrie Coetzee was the WBA champ at the same time. Nobody has a problem saying Evander Holyfield was THE WORLD CHAMPION and Ray Mercer was the WBO champion at the same time.

And as I've also pointed out numerous times in this thread, Fury and Wilder weren't rated #1 and #2 when they fought the first time. Joshua was rated above them. Then, Joshua was dropped four times and stopped. And now THEY ARE the top two rated fighters.

    So things HAVE changed.

We have a fight between the #1 contender and the #2 contender to name a new WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.

That's why Ring is going to present the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP belt to winner.

You really have to "reach" to try to find a problem with this matchup for the WORLD title. And "reaching" is what you're doing.
