I believe Tyson slipped badly after Rooney was fired so why couldn`t Bruno take advantage of this? Do you agree with some that Bruno did okay in his first bout v Mike?

Maybe Tyson wasn't so much better with the amazing Kevin Rooney in his corner after all. He still had his flaws even with Rooney guiding him and maybe he wasn't listening to Kevin by that stage anyway.

Either way he was levels above any version of Frank Bruno. Too fast, powerful, aggressive and good for Big Frank.

Or rather the lack of speed on Bruno’s part. Speed kills and the difference in speed between the two was like night and day. Bruno just didn’t the time and speed to uncoil those long arms of his before Tyson was on top of him and landing his shots.

Ironically Bruno’s most effective shots (apart from that one left hook in the first fight) was the numerous rabbit punches he was landing on the back of Tyson’s head while holding the back of his neck with the other hand. Tyson himself confirmed that he really felt how strong Frank was by the way that he grabbing and pulling his head up close.

Manufactured Fighter v natural Fighter. Look at what happens when Bruno lands the hook in the first fight. He waits for Tyson to fall down because he spent 6 years mostly knocking over stiffs. After that Tyson takes it very seriously.
In the re-match Frank was haunted by what he went through the first time. Don't blame him. What a situation to be in.
The Kevin Rooney thing is a massive red herring. He trained other Fighters but they never made a dent. Nowt but a towel swinger.

Rooney and Cus taught Tyson the peek a boo style but Mike picked it up better than anyof their otyher fighters and listened more.

D'Amato also taught it to Patterson and Torres possibly before Rooney was born ! Kevin couldn't teach a fish to swim !

In the first fight Bruno was coming off of 16 months of inactivity. In the rematch he was 34-35 years old. But either way I just think Tyson was in a much higher class with the right set of both physical and stylistic tools to get through Frank without much trouble.

with the above said, I DO happen to feel that Frank Bruno was a very good fighter who unduly gets shlt on by his critics.

This. Bruno was a second rater, not even as deserving of a title as Tubbs imo.

Tyson did better in the rematch so that's evidence of not declining or Rooney being less a factor?

    1) in many cases if a guy knocks someone out they do it again in the rematch often quicker. There's a finding and exploiting a weakness factor and a mental factor

    2) why in a hypothetical world is tyson the only one who regresses and ages? Bruno was older, had been fighting an training more than tyson whose body was preserved in prison from harsh camps and fights. If they both regressed tyson was better to begin with so he'd still win. How does this change any perception
