Rumour has it they had to bid over 10m for the fight. That's alot of PPVs they need to sell

500,000 buys and they break even. They will easily do more than that.

I’ll be on a stag do in Italy next weekend, hoping to find a bar still open showing the fight but I’m seeing inter Milan play that next evening so staying up to watch the fight will make me a zombie for the football

I use to be able to stay up and be fine but it’s really messes me up for about a week to recover

Easily? I'm not sure it will be easy at 5am.

If we look at AJ's buy rates we see the one fight where the numbers took a hit was vs Ruiz in NYC. Now I know that wasn't as big but it did 550k buys. AJ's fights are never that low but the difference was it was in the early hours.

They should creep up to 500k but I don't think it does much more than that.

BT shouldn't be looking to break even with this fight. A home run would have been expected and that's why they put up with those two other ridiculous fury PPV's in Vegas as the Wilder fight would be the big pay off.

It's gonna do 800,000 buys at least.

Feels like a high side estimate for a couple of reasons.

BT Box office hasn't apparently got over 450k and they have a lower subscriber base amongst which to market this fight. They will need to convert a lot of buys from their work with ITV.

I think Tyson Fury has some domestic support but converting interest into 'I'm staying up till 4am and paying £25 to watch him' could be tougher than you think.

At least on their last fight he'd boxed on BT Sport twice at UK friendly times. He's been hidden on PPV since then, what numbers have those fights even done?

As someone said above, this fight will succeed or fail based on how many US fans can be persuaded to pay 80 bucks. I worry that the UK side will struggle to do much more than cover costs. Sincerely hope I'm wrong on that.

Fury's more of a name than he's been in the past, but as Holler says, converting 'I know who Tyson Fury is and he's a bit of a character' people to 'I'm staying up all night to watch him and paying twenty five quid' is another. Purely anecdotally but I've always found it very easy to have the stereotypical mates round night of boxing for fights that are starting at ten/eleven o'clock. Not so for the middle of the night.

I think it'll do alright, probably around the 500-600k mark. But Tyson isn't that popular compared to what some on here think, and being in the middle of the night and on BT hinders him.

Adam Smith confirmed him and Sky Sports news will be covering the fight all week. It's great that the head of Sky Boxing isn't as bitter as Eddie.

It's in their interest and Eddie's too for that matter, whatever little digs he makes. The better this fight does, the bigger the eventual fight the winner will have with Joshua.

I think it’s likely Fury ends up on Sky after this fight - this might be part of the reason.
