the point is whether you acknowledge his previous lineage or not, it becomes irrelevant when this fight happens because it will establish a new lineage regardless.

Hmmm, OK 'Ring' belt, fine. Sure, call the assumed winner of Wilder V Fury the Ring and lineal champ, sure.
But only because Wilder would win it off Fury and Fury would keep it if he won.

This fight, in no way, shape or form, is #1 Vs #2 as the OP suggests.

FFS, just because the first Wilder Fury fight was entertaining and the judges gave a massively corrupt draw, doesn't mean that this is now a fight for the aaaagesss, two giants head2head etc etc. It's laughable really. Anthony Joshua (or rather, He Who Shall Not Be Named) hangs over the whole division like a damn spectre.

Wilder blatantly lost last time, to a man who was not #1 in the division, so how in the funk he catapults to #2 behind Fury is beyond me and every sane boxing observer.

Wilder's belt means precisely sod-all at this point with the fact he lost to Fury and has dodged Dillian Whyte for literally years. Fury has no belt just a thin claim to the lineal.

Let's all enjoy this fight for the important and necessary scrap it is......but FFS don't mention AJ :nonono

There is no debate about who is ranked #1 and #2, dude...AJ got the hell beat out of him and made to quit, one fight ago. What sort of mental gymnastics would you have to perform to rank him above Fury or Wilder?

The fact AJ agreed an immediate rematch the day following the devastating loss, the fact he faced and beat his demons, fact he showed he has a plan B if needed and despite being under all the pressure he school his nemesis 12-0 having been previously ‘beat into quitting’. I currently rank Wilder at 1, AJ at 2 and Fury at 3 having not beat a top fighter since 2015

There's a 3 headed monster in the division right now, and you can rank them in any order. But It's ridicuolus to suggest that he's head and shoulders above the rest, he isn't. He just went 1-1 with a guy who wasn't in anyone's top10 last year and to this day, Wlad stands as his best win. 41 year old Wlad who hadn't won a fight in 2 years and was coming off of a loss to Fury. That and the draw with Wilder in a fight majority though he won, justifies his place at #1 or #2.

And even though majority thought he won, the fight was officially a draw. That means Wilder has 10 straight title defences along with a draw against the former unified champion and is coming off of a KOTY contender against a legit top10 HW.

So yeah, Wilder and Fury do have a valid case for #1 and #2.

You guys are absolutely tripping! F me, what the hell are you lot smoking????
Soooo Ali is far behind Marciano because he has losses on his record? Is that the total reasoning you use to measure boxing merit?
FFS, Whyte has a better resume than Wilder and Fury only has 1 win with which to claim a better resume than Whyte, in his rapidly aging Wlad points victory.
I simply don't accept that Wilder and Fury sit far atop the division, neither regularly takes on top comp like AJ, Parker, Whyte etc etc which is massive contributor to them staying undefeated or in Fury's case he had YEARS out of the division.
Then again, you lot probably thought an Ortiz win was proof of greatness

Wlad and Povetkin were rated 1 and 2 when they fought.

Ali's and Marciano's ATG standings have nothing to do with this situation, nor does it draw any comparison.

ATG rankings and ranking the active fighters are two different things, with different criterias. You just can't ignore lost that happened less than a year ago against an opponent who wasn't even ranked top10 at the time.

Yes, Fury's best win is a rapidly aging Wlad, but an even more rapidly aging, inactive Wlad is also Joshua's best win. In fact, that was when Joshua was widely considered the #1 HW in the world, when he beat the 41 year old Wlad who was coming off of a loss to Fury and a long lay off. That in itself showes that Fury's win over Wlad should still hold ground while ranking them. Yes, AJ does take on top comp, but Wilder and Fury are fighting each other for the second time within 14 months, the absolute best available opponent to them.

Btw, Whyte doesn't have a better resume than Wilder or Fury, but he can be argued to have a better single win than any of Wilder's in Parker. A win in which he was very lucky and benefited from being the hometown fighter, not unlike Wilder's case against Fury.

And an Ortiz win wasn't proof of greatness at all, but It was a proof of legitimacy as a top3 HW.

No, Wlad was listed as the champion by RING.

They don't list a champion now. Fury and Wilder are the top two contenders.

Regardless of whether people consider Fury the "World" Champion or not the "World Champion," this fight next Saturday, between the #1 rated undefeated heavyweight and the #2 undefeated heavyweight is for the World Championship.

I stopped caring about the belts and lineal title long ago. Boxing politics and the proliferation of titles make the titles practically meaningless and their value is far removed from what they used to mean decades ago.

In regards to the current HW situation, I think its pretty simple; if the winner of Fury v Wilder fights AJ, this winner is the man in the HW division.

I couldn't give a **** about the titles. Hell, the winner of Fury V Wilder could drop the WBC belt and AJ could drop his three belts, but if they fought with no belts on the line, the winner is still the man in the HW division.

I guess Wilder is lucky receiving a corrupt draw carries a lot of cachet. Lol. His resume is basically baby poo soft and Fury drubbed him 9-3 in the first bout.
Joshua faces Wlad, Povetkin, Parker, Whyte and soon to be Pulev. All guys Wilder has avoided as he tried to cherry pick Fury the first time and got embarrassed.
It’s all politics now, the latest ads for the fight doesn’t even list the draws both men have in their official records. Like the last bout doesn’t exist. oh well America is starving for a champion and they been trying to force Wilder to the top for long time now maybe this time at age 34 he’ll succeed against the light hitting Fury.
