Being honest.... would you not put a card on there for a few million quid?

 

If that is true, for summer time this year there’s not many boxers available. I reckon Khan v Brook might finally happen and he’ll put it on there.

 

I agree and to be honest I’m similar in that I don’t agree or condone anything to do with that country. My football team has been rumoured to be taken over by the Saudis also and I’m completely against it.

however from a Hearn point of view the Joshua vs Ruiz fight was rumoured to generate $100m and he likely took a nice little percentage of that. If I was in his shoes being honest I probably would have put the event on and after it’s success and the minimal bad press I got if I was offered to do it on a regular basis I would probably do it. Particularly if his personal experience with the country was a positive one.


For instance if he didn’t want to do it but AJ did that would put him in a very bad position. He was in a difficult predicament in that the rematch was looking shaky unless it was on neutral ground and Saudi was a good fit as it still meant Ruiz had to travel and AJ had been in that environment of the Middle East plenty of times.

 

I have heard it’s almost certainly going to be Manny vs Garcia.

I’m just thinking that the domestic demand for Brook-Khan has died down. They could still sell out an arena but never a stadium. Would be convenient for Hearn to just stage it there and the Saudi money would be too much for Khan to turn down. Also as a Muslim, it would go down well in Saudi to have Khan fight again.

 

Agreed. I think it depends what type of deal he can get Manny on. If he can get him on a two fight deal Garcia and the Khan would make sense to get Khan on the same deal with Brook then Manny or loser of the above fight. I think Hearn needs someone like manny to get a carrot for khan.
I almost think Brook has given up on chasing and is getting on with trying to get another World title.

I think it will be Brook vs Smith to become the next WBO mando and then if he wins the belt he will cash out against Crawford when he steps up.

You know the new breed of casual boxthing fan will think it odd that Gary Mounfield (Manny) from the Stone Roses is fighting Sergio Garcia in Saudi.

 

Mikey from the rumours. That’s why Hearn has been mentioning Manny being out of contract and being able to match any offer for Mikey.

 

Disappointed if this happens. Not like Fast Eddie is short of a few Bob.
