Do some promoters sign some Boxers and turn them into journey men without the boxer knowing ?

Yes similar to record labels back in the day signing acts to count as losses for tax breaks.

By definition on any card, given draws being infrequent, half the boxers lose. Promoters and pretty much everyone in boxing must understand that. Boxers are probably the last to accept it, which is pretty much what you said above.

Reminds me of Harvey Specter. I'm up here, you're down there. Feel free to kiss the ring. Next thing they know their record is 12-22.

Jay Z Def tried to hold Kanye back as he wanted him to be his personal producer.

Hearn put a very green Allen in with Whyte, Ortiz, Yoka ... yeah, he turned him into a hybrid journeyman/lucrative draw (due to Allen's personality). Hearn probably thought that was an innovative new business model and is very proud of it.
If Allen had been sponsored as a prospect, and given a typical development period, he clearly could have done a lot better.

You have to understand that the results of about 95% of all boxing matches are decided by the matchmaking, and that might be too low a number. In almost every case "the opponent " is picked to lose and it is exceedingly rare for that opponent to be picked to be competitive at all.

Son, somebody has to look bad so he can look good. That is the way the world works. You should feel proud because YOU are that guy. Here's to the start of a beautiful relationship. Hands him a score note.

Yes,, I read were Roberto Durans management knew he wasn't ready to fight Leonard in a rematch, he'd been drunk for months. They said , well, if he loses we'll get the rematch for even more money.
