Look at Buddy Baer vs Gene Stanton. Gene Stanton at 216 pounds was a modern sized heavyweight. In this video, we can see Buddy Baer controlling the range with his wonderful jab and throwing crisp, sharp combinations that hit their target. He ties his man up at the right time and even does well on the inside. Whoever says that Buddy Baer wasn't a master at his craft is crazy.

Buddy Baer is somebody who might just have been better than his record suggests.

He held some records in terms of first round knockouts into the 1990s.

Also his career was artificially cut short by the second world war.

He lost to Joe Louis like everybody else, but he never got his chance to run himself down against the other key contenders of the day!

    You've been trolled.

Stanton was in his final fight. He had won one whole fight in his previous TWENTY.

And whatever Baer is doing with that jab, he could probably do by coughing hard. It is hardly a dynamic, quick or commanding jab. Baer is just walking through this guy.

But don't let that prevent you from catching any wind that blows you toward your ordained destination.

He is right. I wish people would talk about old fighters like Jim Driscoll and such instead. Why are people so infatuated with the Baer brothers etc? Big oafs, I say.

Buddy Baer was an impressive specimen at 6’6”, 245 lbs. his power might have been as lethal as anyone who ever lived as well. His fighting style was a tad crude however and defense shaky. His career was still impressive though.
