Any hair experts here? The rules - as far as I know - are that hair can be tied back but by non abrasive means. Could Deontay's boxer braids in and of themselves be considered abrasive, in respect of helping to open up Tyson's eye?
For a moment there I thought we'd gone back to the hair transplant chat ala the Dillian Whyte banned thread!! Lol To address your point, I'm not sure, Lewis fought with similar hairstyle!? So fine I'd guess.
It was off the back of Gareth Davies / Kugan's interview where Gareth mentioned the cornrows rubbing at the eye. It's a fair enough question, given that other things are examined prior to the bell. Why not hair manipulation?
It's always hard to bet against wilder because he only needs to find one punch in 12 rounds. But I'm going with Fury by stoppage. I think the opposite of most in that if it comes down to a war, a slugfest then fury comes out on top. Wilder has no inside game, isn't good from the clinch and has never been in a brawl. He relies on keeping the distance to get the leverage on the right hand. If fury puts it on him he can stop him, the worst thing he can do is stay on the outside trying to pick shots and avoid that right hand because chances are it's going to land and I can't see him rising from the dead twice.
Fancying fury. Hes too big and too skilled for wilder. Wilders big chance is relying on the one big punch. Fury can beat him on the outside or the inside. He can defo push him back if needed. Beats him on the outside. And hes looking a good weight....should be fit etc. Wilders in a tough fight. Unlike most of his other fights he has to push the fight because fury will beat him on the outside otherwise. Wilder will tire in their pushing the fight. He throws explosive almost everytime. Think he got his success against fury because fury tired with the layoff. As long as furys fitter this time as he should be...he should win it.
My official prediction is Wilder via heart pounding KO win. WILDER WKO5 Tyson Furys performance against Wallin was extremely disturbing. A poor lifestyle always catches up with you when you hit 30- this is evidenced in numerous fighters. Tyson Fury is 31 now. His mental state will be on a knife edge because he has been back in boxing for coming up for 2 years now. The demons will be calling him back. I think it is Tyson Furys time to be knocked spark out. He is over the hill now, his best days are behind him. For Wilder this is just another fight, and he knows Fury will give him a number of openings during the fight. Fury isnt this untouchable fighter who doesnt get hit. The Wlad fight gave people that impression, but that was a Wlad suffering from his own personal issues which affected his performance that night
Yes the cut is definitely a red flag as well. Fury said in an interview somewhere that he hasn’t sparred at all. Like you I thought that this fight would be pushed back to late April or May to allow his cut to heal. If that cut goes again and Fury is in the same state he was against Wallin. Then it’s over for him. Even if he is doing everything else right up to that point. There are so many reasons to back Wilder to win the rematch, most likely via KO.
Rumours of what went on in camp will exist as long as boxing does, but simple fact tells us the time period between cut - surgery - fight does not seem to allow any time period for a cut like that to heal. My view is that Tyson’s contract essentially means he has little to no say on when or where he’s fighting, the fight is out of season so can be made for less cost, they’ve cut costs on promotional work by doing little to none and there was never going to be any push back to later in the year due to competition. Hence Feb 22, do or die. That’s not good for Tyson.
I would strongly disagree on the no promotion, they have literally had Tyson fury anywhere and everywhere for the last year. I'm a member of a mainly American site for music, on there is a sport section that's pretty much all NBA and NFL where only big fights get a ripple on. This fight is a good few pages deep and many mentions on them 'selling the **** out if the fight' I think the promotion has been good. Whether people care is another question. As you're the PPV king how is the broadcast working as I assume anybody with half a brain would sign up to espn over the PPV right?
There's been so many mixed reports from Fury's camp, that winy little runt that's Joyce's manager said that Fury has been smashing up some of his stable in sparring, something about a 6-0 Italian and it sounded like Fury had sparred Joyce too. The cut is worrying, but 5 months is a decent amount of time, albeit on the shorter time than you may expect. I thought back to Barrera vs Khan, which was in March, and Marco had been cut in a tune up in January. That cut opened almost straight away and obviously the fight ended very quickly. It's certainly going to be interesting.
It’s going to be lame if the fight gets stopped on a cut. And they ain’t gonna give him no where near as much leeway as when it originally happened against Wallin.
I disagree. Most fights of this magnitude have a big multi - city tour with months of promotion. Two months ago this fight hadn’t been announced. As I’ve said time and again huge fights have never historically taken place in February and there’s a reason for that.
Hayers avoids all promotion, then calls it poor. You'll find a hundred videos on youtube of stateside promotion for this fight and BT have been excellent too. There's also an ITV documentary on Tyson's day to day life running concurrently with the big fight build up. I can guarantee Hayers has avoided every bit of it. For months Hayers relished in questioning whether the fight would happen or not. He clearly didn't want it to happen and now he's devastated. He's criticised the date of the fight and the late announcement. The late announcement is a valid point but he can't get his head around the fact the promotion has been excellent the last four to six weeks. It's hard to gauge whether he's ignorant or autistic. Bbc special report on the fight now just as I type
I dont know about this multi city thing, isn't that a more recent occurrence?. Like I said I can only go off what I've seen real people say who are the target audience and they seem to suggest it's everywhere. I presume you watch the American ESPN channels alot and FOX right?
