............It sounds sick, but after watching Gatti recently get his head handed to him (hopefully for the last time), this situation is the first thing I thought of for him.

Saw a post fight interview with Gatti on youtube. Man, did he look old. Great as some of his fights were I couldn't help thinking what could be in store for him down the road.

I see Bobby at the Golden State Boxers Assoc. lunches, the gym and at the fights. He greets me the way he did your friend, with a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. He's adored everyplace, and always a big smile...but it's more like a little boy.

My pick has to go to Pryor v Arguello I.

It's a cliche but the atmosphere in the air that night was indeed electric. Watching Arguello take on a a prime Aaron Pryor after the great and distinguished career he'd already had, and taking him to the brink was a career-crowning fight for El Flaco Explosivo.
And what a war it was - non-stop action from the start with the high drama of the water bottle thrown in for good measure.
Always enjoy getting an ice cold beer or three out for this one. Superb :good

Probably Toney - Nunn for me.
The night Toney came of age. Of course, there have been better fights over the years, but I have always loved the way Toney, who was being hopelessly outboxed, slowly but surely got back into the fight and delivered the goods late.

Do you believe Stewards story about the leg massage? That was the excuse given. Tommys hand got broke too.

    For me

Hearns v Duran ...awesome punching power/speed ever!!
SRL v Benitez Amazing display by both men
Hagler v Hearns amazing rd 1
    Lewis v Briggs underrated classic
Dela Hoya v Tito Top fight until the last rds when DLH ran

There are 5 fights that I watch at least a couple times a year

    (1) Hagler-Hearns Have watched the first round at least a 1000 times
    (2) Leonard-Hearns 1. The momentum shifts are unreal and a dramatic
    finish.
    (3) Ali-Fraizer 3. 100 degree tempeture in a packed indoor stadium with no AC
Both fighters leaving everything they had in the ring. The last great performance by two legends
    (4) Pryor-D Johnson 1. Probably the most underated fight at all time. Classic Pryor
    (5) Leonard-Duran 1. Two top 10 P4P fighters in my book putting up a classic fight

Lately, I've been alternating between watching 2 fights over and over again.

Toney vs Jirov - This fight reminds me how great Toney used to be when he was in shape and motivated. An epic battle of wits and ego's, they both showed a great deal of heart. I think the Toney that turned up to fight Jirov would have beaten a RRJ from the same year 2003.

    and

Ali vs Williams - watching Ali dance never gets boring, just a complete masterclass in boxing. It makes me wonder about the peak Ali years we missed out on due to his forced exile. I don't think we saw the best of Ali. But this was the best Ali we were able to see.

LOL, I take what Manny says about The Motor City Cobra with a pinch of salt, as they did have father/son type relationship, so I suspect Steward felt the need to defend Tommy's performance. But why? Yes technically it was flawed but it help to produce a helllacious fight and Tommy has nothing to be ashamed of IMO.

Hearns did break his hand though.

    Morales MAB 1

1 of the greatest & closest fights in history.
The only bad thing was the way the commentators kept going on about barrera being robbed, this fight could have gone either way, they even said this going into rd 12 then mab gets credited with a fake kd & all of a sudden he was robbed, I disagree.

for pure guts, skill & brutality, EM MAB 1 is tops.

Leg massage and Broken hand or not I think Hearns was going to lose that fight no matter what. His downfall was always going to be his mentality leading into that fight. A recent knockout over Duran had him thinking he was going to knockout Hagler in this fight. In hindsight this looks like a ridiculous assumption, but Hearns at the time thought he could. His previously broken hand was fully healed and he was prepared for this fight. Hagler wanted to make it a brawl and Hearns was all to happy to oblige, thats why he lost. Luckily for us fans though he did.
