Deontay Wilder would be wise to go back to fighting faded old men and clubfighters

Deontay Wilder showed last night why he was matched against soft opposition his whole career.

He looked impressive knocking out journeymen like Gerald Washington and Jason Gavern and old faded inactive guys like Bermane Stiverne and old men on high blood pressure medication like Luis Ortiz.

In the future he should 1) not fight anyone younger than late 30s (preferably over 40), unless that fighter is a journeyman and has been knocked out before (like Szpilka).

Wilder cannot beat a prime top ten heavyweight, that why his management kept him away from them for so long.

Now that Fury is back to his fighting shape, Wilder should not take the rematch. He'll be stopped sooner than he was last night.

He should target the likes of Charles Martin, Trevor Bryan, Adam Kownacki, men of that exalted ilk. Maybe Ruiz if he's feeling especially brave.

I'd say he should fight Ruiz. Both will be on the redemption trail.

The winner of Wilder-Ruiz can fight the winner of Fury-Joshua for the undisputed HW title.

Before someone mentions Usyk, he should go back down to CW. He keeps getting hurt trying to be a HW and has been extremely inactive since his HW attempt began.

I find it funny none of the hardcore AJ fanboys on this site are calling for Fury vs AJ. Telling of their new confidence level.

It's a fight that should happen though. I'm not emotionally invested in Fury or AJ but it's a fight that should happen for the good of boxing.

We are now just one fight away from determining the undisputed HW champ of the world!

Maybe since Wilder's been exposed, he now might actually be more willing to face Joshua.

What has he got to lose now?

He could fight Martin in an IBF eliminator and if he wins, receive a title shot. And that would free Fury to fight Joshua next.

Yes he would, but it's a fight I can see Wilder risking, thinking he'd be able to win.

Really? Lol, so because Fury beat him, Ruiz would “**** him up”?

I know the road your going down an I agree but the jump is to much for Wilder to risk, he'll take a risk, but not as big a risk as Ruiz...Rinse an repeat if you like

Yes he would. Ruiz is much better than anyone Wilder has fought by a country mile, this is the whole point of peoples argument bout Wilder, if he fought a true top 10 he would've been done before Tyson got his hands on him !

I think he'll believe he can outbox the shorter, flatter-footed Ruiz (lol) when the truth is that Ruiz comes forward and busts him up on the inside. That's providing Ruiz can prevent his backtits from flopping all over his shorts, by no means a given.

Wilder is limited but we all knew that when watching his other fights, but his right hand and power is so good he could equalize it.
