50-50 Split? how do you sort out SKY & BT? Location - US, Saudi or UK? Warren & Hearn, how would they sort it out (Warren is basically a mascot anyway) then all the daft stuff who walks first, face first on the poster , press tour etc. Do we think this fight will ever get made? and if so , how difficult for it to be made?
It's not that difficult to make in terms of broadcasters, promoters etc. They can all work together. The money is big. The main problem at the moment is the fighters' fighting schedule and contracts with other fighters. Joshua is due to announce a fight with Pulev soon, and has another possible mandatory waiting too, as well. Fury has just stepped out of the ring and will want a rest, and he might be contracted to a 3rd fight with Wilder next, and has Whyte as a mandatory and that would be a good payday. I'd be very surprised if it gets done for this summer. They have other obligations.
Its a big if but if the fighters wanted it enough the governing bodies would allow it if broadcasters/promoters paid them what they wanted, they aren't in it for the love of the sport.
It should be easy. It's a 50/50 fight. Both Warren and Hearn have said that. Stick it on both platforms for the same price. It should be at Wembley, but the lure of big money from the likes of Saudi and maybe even Vegas could have a say. A unification should take precedence over a mandatory, so that will hopefully deal with the Pulev/Usyk/Whyte situation. I think it hinges on Wilder. Even if he doesn't want to take the immediate rematch, I doubt his handlers would want to let that go. They seem hell-bent on keeping Joshua out of the picture.
This surely happens in Vegas. The serious PPV money is in America not the UK and the Saudi time zone is almost a late morning fight for the American audience.
Location Fury wants Vegas AJ wants England Hearn want Saudi In the end they will go with one that makes the most money. Broadcasters can it possible for it to be on all 4 DAZN, ESPN, Sky and BT? If not then maybe choose the preferred N.American service and UK Service with the losing parties being finicial compensated for it. Hearn says they will make the 50/50 offer. I think Hearn will be more willing to give into Furys demands stipulations as Hearn wants the fight more than Top Rank and has confidence in AJ winning the fight
Depends, what the Saudis come up with. Didnt AJ reportedly earn more than Fury and Wilder combined? It would nice be if AJ vs Fury happend in England but its the lesser likely of the three I think.
I don't know why time zone matters. Back in the day they just used to fight in an hour that suits the U.S. television. Lewis-Bruno, two British fighters, was at Cardiff and they fought at 1 or 2 in the A.M local time. Same with Witherspoon-Bruno at Wembley. Foreman and Ali fought at 4 or 5 A.M. local time in Zaire back in 1974.
I can see there being a significant public backlash if the fight is held outside of the UK as both fighters are British and the core PPV market is Britain- Las Vegas shouldn’t really be an option because of the time difference. Frank should immediately state he wants it to take place at Wembley to put Hearn on the back foot. If somehow the fight is held at Wembley I can see a massive hike in ticket prices (likely double across the board of what a typical Matchroom Wembley card seats cost) and the PPV cost will be £30 on both BT and Sky. It shouldn’t in theory be that difficult to make this Summer so long as both camps want it.
Just put it on at Wembley to a sole broadcaster. Whoever bids the most money gets it. That should help secure it in the UK. Ticket prices would be mental. PPV prices would set all sorts of new UK records. But just put it on in the UK. The two best heavyweights in the world, British, fighting each other on foreign soil is ridiculous. Have the rematch in Vegas or Saudi.
I'd love it to be Las Vegas, to be honest. Honestly when I was a kid growing up British heavyweights were a long running joke to the Yanks. It was unthinkable that the biggest heavyweight fight possible could ever be two Brits. But Las Vegas is still the capital of boxing for me, would be great to see Fury and Joshua take centre stage there.
