    6. Julio Cesar Chavez
    7. Guadalupe Pintor
    8. Carlos Palomino
    9. Rubin Olivares

The latins have it going on when it comes to battering the body. But ol' Joe Frazier teaches them all.

Y'know, for as many fights as I watched Wilfredo Gomez contest, I never really thought much about his body work. I'm not saying he didn't, but I would not place him on this list. His head-shots were the standouts in his arsenal IMO. I would consider for an extended list Jerry Quarry, Ken Norton and Bennie Briscoe. Now they really loved to work the body.

It needs Mike McCallum, Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson. Hagler is also up there for mixing it to the head and body in combination.

Gomez' offense was built entirely around his body attack.

They say there is no right or wrong with these sort of lists.

But that courageous decision of yours, pushes the statement to the limit! ;)

I decided to test my memory of Gomez - and I watched a lot of Gomez back in the day - so I pulled up the Gomez-Zarate bout. I think I was accurate in my assessment. He threw no body shots in the 1st round, he threw 2 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, he threw a few more when he had Zarate hurt in the 4th and 5th, but the dude was really a head-hunter. He may throw a few here and there, but his attack was not built around a body attack. His style was paw with the left to set up a fast right hand to the head, which usually had the cerebral effect on his opponent and then he would let loose with everything in his armament. I've always liked Gomez - dirty as he was - but I would omit him on this list of body-bangers. Just my opinion.

Watch the rest of his fights and find out I am right. Crushingly right actually.
